Greetings from East Tennessee!

Hello, All,
My husband and I are fairly new to the camping world. I recently retired and we purchased a 2006 Holiday Rambler Alumascape. After about nine months, we traded that for a 2015 Keystone Montana 3611RL Fifth Wheel (we liked the layout better and had discovered auto-leveling!). Unfortunately, immediately on getting the Montana home, we ran into problems and it has to go back to the dealership for repairs! Kitchen slide got caught on an open cabinet door. The door became wedged and apparantly threw the gears out of whack! Now it appears we have a bent slide track assembly! Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on that. Has anyone ever had an issue like that?
Anyway - looking forward to happier days of camping in the near future!

Welcome to the forums and hope everything works out well for your "boo-boo" damage. I think everyone who has owned a camper, ever, has made some kind of "boo-boo". But these things are how we all learn and grow making us all better and knowledgeable in the end.

I've had my share of slide problems, but mine are cable driven, a totally different system. But it sounds like you're getting it fixed. RV's, campers, trailers are nothing more than wood, metal, wire, nuts and bolts with a battery thrown in there. Everything is fixable. It's just a matter of how long it takes.

For what it's worth .... brand new Montana. I JUST brought it home from the dealership. Unhitched in my driveway and proceeded to extend the slides. Very first one went fine. (Front passenger side). Second one (rear passenger side ... the bed-room) .... crunch, crunch, crunch! OH crap? What was that.

Got back there and found out a cabinet door popped open in transit (from the dealership to my my house! And the cabinet door was ripped off the hinges. It didn't hurt the slide, other than scaring the trim. But the door was toast! I called the dealership and they said, that was NOT a warranty problem. It was on me! .... my welcome to a brand spanking new Montana!

So, it can happen, and it does happen to all of us. Hang in there. It will get fixed.

Welcome to the MOC. Yes we've all done it. I learned the hard way to walk around several times, check and double check everything. Slow small moves. Enjoy!

Camping is all about slowing down and taking it easy. That should start 30 minutes before you start to hitch up to the camper and continues all the till 30 minutes after you get back home and unhitched. We all learned this the hard way, and probably to ashamed or embarrassed to explain how.

Replying to DutchmenSport:
Sounds similar to what happened to us, only the cabinet door was in the kitchen area. Door was closed when we pulled out, but had somehow popped open during trasit.

There are two types of campers. Ones that have had something caught in a slide and ones that are going to.

We learned the hard way on our previous RV to check every cabinet door before opening a slide. For us, it's a two-person task since not all cabinet doors are clearly visible from the control center. We open the cabinet doors on the kitchen side of the sink peninsula and use a flash light to check the doors on the living room side. Same for the cabinet above the sink. Also, an item on our tear down checklist is to check that all cabinet doors are securely closed. Even so, an item can still fall against a cabinet door and open it or a bed enough bump on the highway can cause a door to open.

Greetings fellow East Tennesser! WE, too, have a 2015 3611RL. While we didn't snag a cabinet door, we did wind up with a bent slide frame that caused binding with retraction of the slide. Required a dealer repair but no problems afterward.
