Greetings from NH
We are purchasing a 2021 Montana 3790RD to live in full time, we are in the process of selling our home and building a new one. This is also our first RV/5th wheel should be fun. Any tips on living full time in one especially during winter? We live in central NH so it gets pretty cold here typically -20 to 30’s in the winter. We also probably won’t have any hookups on the land and will be utilizing solar and a generator as for water hoping to have a well in before winter. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum! A couple of things you will need for sure are skirting and a house sized propane tank. Also, the 30amps that most generators provide may not be enough for your needs as your rig is 50amps. Running the fridge and the water heater on propane will help, but again you'll need a bigger propane supply or have to make a lot of refill trips and sooner or later run out of heat in the middle of the night.

Thank you! Yeah I’m gunna insulate the underside pretty well along with skirting, been looking at the onan Cummins generators or getting just a pad mount propane generator. Was planning on getting 2 250 gallon tanks for heat etc be a little expensive this winter but as we progress with the build should get “cheaper”.

Go around under your rig and close up all the holes and gaps. This will help keep mice and drafts out.
Skirting (put some heat ,light bulbs, milk heater, under there to keep it warm), also cover the slide roof, walls and floor with 2" styrofoam insulation.
In the picture below, I would skirt under the overhang and put a door there. Tool shed, snow shovel etc.
For the windows, reflectex on the inside (3 layers).
Some use 10 gauge clear vinyl over the outside of the windows (lets light in) using air conditioner foil duct tape (removable without a residue, make sure the surface is clean) and another layer over the inside of the windows. This creates 2 dead air spaces. Prevents condensation on the windows.
The key is getting it done before it gets cold. It's difficult to get tape to stick when it's freezing.
You will need a way to dump your tanks.
There is a Forum section, "Burrr, it's cold outside, winter camping", for more ideas.

Zero experience with this, but since use of the heat pump won't be likely I'd probably figure a way to cover and/or insulate all the ceiling registers to prevent heat loss thru the ducts and AC units.
