A fun post about China Bombs.
Hi
My brother and I purchased a 2007 SOB 5th wheel and I towed it 1,000 miles and put it on a parcel of land in the mountains that we were purchasing.
The deal fell thru.
I pulled the trailer back home and sold it yesterday.
This trailer had Dunlap China bombs on it date coded 2006.
I didn't have any tire problems for the 2,000 miles I towed it.
So I got to wondering why.
The only thing I can think of is!!!
I was carrying 4 Tredit wheels with Goodyear G614’s mounted in the bed of the truck.
Must be just the threat of replacing them with the Goodyear G614's was enough to keep them from busting. LOL

I have never had the slightest problem with any of my Ford trucks, which clearly is the result of faithful monthly waxings.

I got to thinking, China no doubt uses tires made in China on all their vehicles large and small. The sound of all those China bombs blowing out must echo across the country like constant gun fire???

One of the reasons they are so skittish.

In China they probably argue over which is better, Michelin or Goodyear.

Although I am sure there was no unsavory intent in this comment, but it is rather sad to see tires compared to bombs and gunfire when around the world folks are dealing with the "real" thing on a daily basis, over the years American and Canadian troops have fought and died in attempts to stop this from happening.
I really doubt there are significant tire problems in China, they do not have the interstates and high speed freeways and they sure don't have large RV's being towed around on their tires or any other brand of tire.
It seems to me, when North Americans retire, at least a lot of those that can afford it, go out and buy a fancy RV to travel the country, where in China they take that money and invest it in property here in Canada and the US. We purchase a bottomless pit and they have an increase in investment opportunity.
Different lifestyles, different ideals. Sadly we are being forced to purchase and deal with their products in every aspect of our lives, not just tires. But that's not their fault it is ours.
I am not making a political statement, just putting forward my thoughts and feel I must ask myself who should be skittish, them or us.
Just ramblin thoughts on this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I'm also with Rich. But can't resist so here goes: Oh, I thought those shaking events were earth quakes, but now I find out its China Bombs going off in China or maybe on their way here through the Panama Canal. This posts makes be think of yesteryear when I had to clean my plate because there was not enough food in China. More and more cars there now, but think most folks there still ride bicycles (tires made in China) or mass transit (steel on steel). We are fortunate to have freedom of movement here in North America. There are large portions of their country where tourist are not allowed.

Thank goodness this is a "fun" post on tires. If it was anything different, we may get into another serious discussion on the merits, pitfalls, efficiency, specifications, reserve capacity, etc. of tires and who knows what other topics! Hee Hee!! It sounds like a pretty expensive insurance policy to me Phil!!

The idea put forward in the OP was fun and was interpreted by myself in that way, as well my Dodge runs well, because like my wife talks to her flowers, I talk "nicely" to my truck. All fun.
Unfortunately the G614's in the back of Phil's truck were mounted on rims made in China, so it was only half a threat. But I got the intent.
We are indeed blessed to be able to travel freely about North America, but maybe we should not forget who's tires we are likely to be traveling on, and who's tires are on the Majority of our RV's.
For interest sake, no other reason, here is a link to some older data from 2007, updated in 2009 regarding tire production. If you note the tires involved are Passenger and Commercial/light truck. We know the Chinese don't just build bike/motorcycle tires. With far fewer auto's in China than in North America, one might wonder where the largest producer of tires in the world might be shipping them all.

A little reality with the levity, but I hope my posts have not taken the fun out of this topic. mail2us, thank you also, as in past years I very much look forward to celebrating a second Thanksgiving with my American friends.
Phil P, I hope you made a profit on the turnover of the SOB...

I’ve had my share of tire problems but I’ll state they are not limited to the china bombs. They do seem to have more than their share of problems but there are many factors that come into play with tires.

Hi
The spares are the result of Goodyear agreeing to give me a new set of G614’s if I got new wheels that were approved for 110 Psi.
