Hi Folks,
I replaced my MorningStar TRI-Star MPPT-60 solar controller with the Magnum PT-100.

The limit on the MPPT-60 is about 800 Watts at 12 volts. I have 1120 Watts, options are to go with two controllers or one 100 amp.

Thanks for the explanation. Like I said I am new to this and trying to get as much info as possible.
I believe I will be using the Tristan MTTP-60 as well as a Magnum pure sine wave hybryd inverter.

John I believe i saw that you are using the Magnum hybrid invertor/charger from your blog. What level of integration does Magnum's solar charger provide? Is everything configurable from the RC or ARC? I went with Midnite Solar Classic 150. The Magnum was not available when I was in the market and the footprint of the Magum was too large for my available real estate.

Yes the PT-100 and the Hybrid Inverter are all controlled by the ARC. Doesn't have a web interface like the MorningStar TRISTAR MPPT-60, but you can get history, just not as easy as the Web site.
Tech Support appears to be none now that Magnum was bought out. If was was doing a system today, I would go with Victron products.

I have been looking at the Victron BMV-712 as it has Bluetooth for battery monitoring. Maybe I’ll look at their other products as well.

I know what you mean regardin gthe support. It has probably been a couple of months since I needed Magnum support but their tech support center was still located local to me. However I new all to well that consolidating in MN was the plan.
If we purchase another fiver I will also more than likely go Victron if for no other reason than the BMS can communicate natively with the invertor. My BMS is CANBUS and the Magnum hybrid is strictly RS-232. I use a mounted surface pro to control my Midnite Solar Classic and BMS while the ARC is used for the invertor and AGS.

I have Victron BMV-712 also, I just upgrade about 7 or 8 months ago from my old Victron monitor, for the Bluetooth support.
