We have a 1750 watt MSW inverter and it powers the microwave just fine. We use it to reheat food all the time when we are dry camping. We do find that it doesn't heat up as much as when we are hooked up to the pedestal.

Got it! But, by actively investigating and walking through floor plans now, we're able to determine what we "need", what we would like, and what we don't really care about. That makes it a whole lot easier for us to react to new models as they come out.

As others have said, the solar panels charge the batteries, and the DC power from the batteries is then run through an inverter to convert it to AC current. The solar panels we had installed on our 2955RL are probably the best investment we have made so far. My advice would be to get solar installed and buy a Honda 2000 generator. You may have to adapt to cooking without the microwave, and you probably won’t need your AC in Alaska anyway.

We have a 135W solar panel and two batteries, and get by just fine. In fact, I haven’t used the generator since we got solar.

Don’t get into the mindset that you need central AC and a Jacuzzi everywhere you go. There are workarounds for just about everything.

Good luck!
