Water heater location/access

Hello
I have a 2017 HM370BR
The electric side of the water heater is not heating gas side works.
The electric side was heating fine but no longer is .I checked breaker/fuses. Also there isnt a switch or reset on the water heater compartment.

Where is the actual water heater and how doni access it to see if a relay is bad and check thermostat etc.
Also can i adjust the thermostat?

Also where is the furnace located ?
Sorry i am new and living full time in my montana and its getting colder here in TN
Thanks
Jeremiah

Sounds like your electric element is burned out.
There are lots of youtube videos showing how to replace the element and the anode rod.

Pics of various elements below and screen shot from a video of the guy pulling the element out.

On the drivers side - this black panel comes off and you can access the drain, anode rod, electric element etc. There should be a brochure or owners manual in your owners manual. I would guess that you have a Suburban water heater. Do a search for “Suburban water heater electric element replacement” videos.

I am not sure how your cover comes off - but once you get it off your model number will be on a tag on the left…

Before you get too carried away, there are a few simple diagnostics you can do to narrow down the problem. If the electric side worked before and you didn't accidentally drain the tank with the heater on, it might be fine. Those heater elements last a long time if you don't run them without water.
Far more common is the black rocker switch in the lower left corner. It could be tuned off or has just died. Pop it out and check for 120V.

The thermostat may have reached an over-temp situation. It is reset by pushing on the appropriate spot on the rubber cover. (The left side is the AC thermostat, right side is the 12V one). You should check it for 120V on both sides.

The water heater element can be tested by measuring the resistance (power must be off). It should be around 30 ohms and if open it is toast.

There are a couple of trouble shooting manuals in the Files section that will help find the issue:

If you have a Suburban water heater, you have these things. They are located inside the cover of the water heater on the outside wall

It would help if you gave us a picture of your water heater to ensure the previous owner hadn't changed the stock one out for something more exotic.
