2nd AC wired to master bedroom light switch

Hi,

Has anyone had an issue with the rear a/c being wired to the light switch in the master bedroom? Let me explain. We purchased a 2021 377FL and after getting it home I have found that the rear a/c only works when the master bedroom light switch is on. When the switch is on the ceiling lights operate, as well as the thermostat in the master bedroom, and of course the a/c. When I turn the switch off the lights, the thermostat, and the a/c all turn off. I have a service appointment scheduled but I was just curious if anyone else has experienced the same issue. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Welcome to the MOC
It is new feature they added since it is cooler at night and you shouldn't need ac while sleeping.

Seriously it sounds like they grabbed the 12VDC from the wrong side of the switch.

We had a problem on our new 2007 with our refrigerator and some outlets working intermittently. After a lot of head scratching and troubleshooting, found out they were wired to the ceiling fan switch. Fan on, fridge and outlets worked. Fan off, no go.

Looks like they are still making the same type mistakes.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like a speed of assembly problem to me. Make them too fast and you wire on the wrong side.

Remove the switch. If you have multiple wires on the load side of the switch, one will be for the thermostat & one for the lights. Move the thermostat wire to the line side of the switch and it'll solve your problem. Now if they daisy chained the thermostat and ceiling lights, one wire on the line side of the switch, It becomes much more complicated and maybe best left for the dealer to fix.

Ha! This is kind of interesting and humorous for me. Maybe a bit off topic, but trying to keep thing on the happy path .... I'm a computer code software tester, A previous company I worked for developed software code for Credit Unions. Their coding was so bad and they were getting push-back so hard from the different credit unions, that the company gave us all instructions that we could not use the term "defect" any more. Whenever there was a "defect" in the code, we'd have to find the work around. Once the work around was figured out, they put out a service bulletin and then call it an "enhancement." So, they were sending out weekly "Enhancement Bulletins" to all their clients.

Maybe, the feature of having the air conditioner wired to a light switch is not a manufacturing "defect." Maybe it's an "enhancement!" ????
