Basement doors

Does anyone know who makes the basement doors. I am having problems with one that opens side to side. There is a small plastic plug at the bottom of the hinge that is damaged which allows the door to drop down and rub on the opening. I have talked with the service manager at my dealer and his answer was to replace the whole door unit. Seems a little stupid for a 5 cent piece of plastic. Parts manager was also no help. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dennis

Last time I tried, they would only talk to manufacturers. Good luck.

I had a similar problem. The service manager replaced that plastic "rod" type thing going thru the hinge area. He seems to have put a plastic rod that is long enough to run the entire length of the door. I have not had a problem since.

Not real sure of what you are talking about but I'm thinking it is like a bushing on the door hinge. If you can get the door off, you might try putting a small piece of plastic tubing between the door hinge and where it slides into. Maybe I'm way off course here but that's what I would try if it were me!

had the same problem. drilled out the rivit. put the plastic piece back in place took a small stainless steel bolt slid it through the rivit hole and through the plastic piece to the other side then put nut on end and tighten. you might have to cut the bolt down to fit for length. worked fine for me. nut has to be facing out so door will close.
