Montana Legacy

Wondering why there are so very few Legacy units on the market. None at the dealerships, none on RVTrader.

To me, a shopper, it seems that some of the upgrades in the Legacy make the move to this upgrade a no-brainer.
Those upgrades that are important to me include:
1. Upgraded suspension and hydraulic disk brakes.
2. Gen and Solar prep.
3. Supposedly upgraded cabinetry.
4. Fiberglass rear cap - supposedly better insulation

Maybe other reasons but these are the ones that I recollect.
But that seems to make that $10K difference worth it - especially for the hydraulic disk brakes.

Feedback??

Disc brakes can be added for about $2,000 to $2,500. Most people don’t need a generator or solar. The better suspension is only marginally so. The rear cap and solid wood cabinet stiles are nice, but for most don’t seem worth the extra dollars.

Assuming you are talking 20 or 21 models:
The biggest plus is the brakes.
You also get the in command - you will find mixed reviews on in.
The cabinetry is the same on the Montana line.
A lot of folks like the power cable reel.
I believe the rear cap is mostly aesthetics.
Day night shades are also standard.
Solar prep on all Montanas.
Minor difference in suspension.

I think you answered your own question. If the cost includes things you like then it's for you. It was for us.

The legacy package did not exist when we purchased our 2013 3402 Big sky it was just a Montana. The legacy package was created and was exactly what we had on our 13 3402. We got a upgrade with out paying for it. The standard Montana was then at a lower price point with less upgrades. The Montana name sells well but many did not what to pay the price for the Legacy.

Since we prefer to add IS and disk brakes ourselves and we didn't want the In Command we avoided Legacy this time around.

Hi All,

We couldn't find a legacy package on any dealership's and when they did have one they were gone in a day. So we factory order our's and waited the 13.5 weeks to take delivery. We wanted to add the generator and solar with aa washer/dryer from factory but that did work out as I hope it would. The dealership where we bought the unit from had the task of adding the Generator and the washer/dryer. then the fun started......

Even Factory installed Wash and Dryer are not always without issues. We had to pull our washer out to re-route the drain hose that the factory installer kinked causing low draining which in turn generated a fault code. And get this, our washer is sitting on a drain pan, BUT where a drain hose should be attached, nothing for the floor of the cabinet.

We ordered from the factory thinking about time instead of the unit's being with maybe better unit's. That was because in the order we picked out whirlpool. I still got them but we had another 2 weeks at the dealers.

When we wanted to upgrade newer from our 2013. We just liked the features on the Legacy, namely the Power cord reel, the rear cap , and the interior upgrades. We couldn't get another FL like we had(Keystone quit making them to work on a new FL), so we also liked the FK, and our dealer had one and the price was actually pretty close to the non-Legacy. So far we are very happy with the coach. no real problems , just the usual operator errors. Bottom-line is that is each customer that makes the decision.

As for number 4, the insualtion, they just put batts of insulation in the back wall. no better.

as for suspension, supposedly the 2021 models have a heavier axle it was just announced.

We opted for all option when we ordered our 2020. Price was negotiable on everything except paint. I checked all the boxes except paint and handed them the best quote I got. from a place (cant remember the name) near Chicago close to a lake and they beat it. Happy with all the options, well worth having gen/solar installed.
Washer and dryer stack we waited for a good sail price and having it installed for $400.00, they wife says it's cheaper then the inevitable trip to the hospital.

When we bought our 2015, we paid $8000 for the Legacy Edition for that model year. To us it was an absolute great deal, everything from an upgraded exterior, to solid wood cabinets, tank heaters, floor heaters, fiberglass rear cap and etc. It was everything we wanted so it was a great deal. Again, its a personal decision to do it or not.

We wanted full body paint and it comes with Legacy. For more information on how nice the Legacy package is below is a video link. We did have to order to get full body paint but we thought the resale would be better since there aren't too many out there.

We have no regrets!
Happy travels!

So everyone that responded agreed that the Legacy is a great way to go.

So why dont the dealerships see that and have the inventory. And if they sell in a week or a day, then that is just more proof that it is a no-brainer.

For us, we would like to see one and compare it to a non-legacy

Dealers want (Need) to move inventory as fast as they can, to do that the key is low price, hence the number one selling Montana is the 3120 just the basics.
On the other hand if you can deal with the time and order one that they don't have to have sitting on their lot paying interest on there are deals to be had.

Some dealers stock them, I drove from Florida to Virginia to buy mine. When I bought mine in January the paint was free which sealed the deal. Paid 70K.

Legacy has:
In Command
Power Cord Real
Disk Brakes
Electric Power Surge Protection
Solid Wood Cabinet Styles
Rear Cap
Generator Prep
Rear and side Camera System

I love the In Command once I learned its Bluetooth limitations, we access it from the internet or my iPhone. I carry spare relays just in case like we all carry spare fuses.

I have a 2019 20th anniversary they called a legacy but darn few of those upgrades. You pretty much have to pay for each one.
