New Montana High Country Owners

Our names are Ralph and Vicki. We live in the little town of Gold Bar, Wa. We traded our 2017 Keystone Hideout 5th Wheel to purchase our new 2022 Montana High Country 373RD for long term stays when my wife retires October 2024 and are looking forward to that. We pull the beast with our 2005 Dodge Laramie 3500. We've taken it out twice so far and I'm still learning the new RV but we love it and definitely love all the extra room we now have. Looking forward to meeting and making new friends.

Welcome aboard! Glad you found us. We've really enjoyed our HC. I'm sure you'll make many great memories in yours. Be prepared to work out some new trailer bugs but that's normal. You've got a nice one.

Thank You. Yes, we've been finding a bug here and there but over all we're enjoying our future home on wheels and so are the dogs. Lol. We started making memories with our new MHC already. We need to take it back to the dealer for some warrantee work but we're having too much fun right now and still have a few reservations at a couple of places yet so we're going to wait until the off season to take it in. Lol

Welcome aboard a great forum. Always good to see another Washington resident on the site. We came thru Gold Bar back on Aug 6th heading out for our long 4 month trip. Love taking US 2 across the mountains rather then I90.

Thank You. I'm glad they have a site like this for RVers like me that are basically newbies to the RV world. RVers are always helpful with information and advice. Yeah we love driving across highway 2. It's such a beautiful drive. You have safe travels wherever you travel to and have a very enjoyable time.

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you've got a great plan going on there! We purchased our High Country two years before I originally planned to retire. Most of the bugs were worked out over those 2 years and a lot of modifications to make things customized for our personal needs. It took another couple years after that, but retirement did finally happen. I do not consider ourselves "full times" because we still own our house. We added our son to the deed (for future nursing home protection) and he and his son have been living back home with us for the last 8 years. So, he's maintaining the property, which gives us a solid base to return "home" too, between road tours and when we just need a little off-road time, time for minor repairs, doctor visits, veterinarian visits for our doggies, and to pick up the next load of 90 day mail order prescriptions! It all works for us. We'll return home, probably after 6:00 pm on September 4, spend the night, and head out again Monday September 5! Such is our life. Full timing? Well, as close as one can get!

Work out all the details now while you have time to do it. Figure out what will happen to your current home, your finance, EVERYTHING regarding your medical needs, your mail, your pets, voting, insurance on your vehicles, your own health insurances, checking accounts, debit cards, credit cards, cell phones, internet access (hotspots or something else), satellite television vs over-the-air television vs streaming video vs nothing at all.

In the last 4 years, we experimented, planned, and adjusted our lifestyles regarding each and every item I just mentioned. It takes some time and some careful forethought and planning. But once the final piece is in place, you tell tell that boss of yours ... finally ... "Take this job and shove it! I ain't working here no more!" Take off and hit the road! It's marvelous when all the pieces finally come together!

Enjoy that new Montana. Go camping as much as you possibly can over the next couple years. Attempt camping in all 4 seasons, at a beach and in the mountains. Go to State Parks, Private Parks, National Parks, try boomdocking a night or two, spend a night at a Wall Mart (just to see what it's like), sleep in your camper while at home. In other words, attempt to experience every type of camping experience possible over the next two years. Clearly identify what went right and what went wrong and plan, adjust, and fix so you are prepared when you are permanently on the road and don't have the safety net to return to your stick-n-brick house.

Again, good luck. Enjoy that new Montana and again ... Welcome to the forums!

Thank You. There's a lot of work to do yet before we're ready to hit the road full time but we're working on that. Can hardly wait for the day to finally arrive.
