2022 F-450 has Arrived!

After a six-month wait, our new truck is here. It arrived at the dealer near Des Moines Iowa last week. We flew out on Monday, picked up the truck on Tuesday and started back west. Other than the weather (tornados and hail scare in Nebraska) it was a nice trip. The truck is being ceramic coated; should be done in a few days and we will finish our trip home. I should have just enough time to get her "personalized" before the western region rally in June.

Very nice! Is it true that the turning radius is much much tighter with the longer front axle?

Yes. This is my second F-450; they turn much tighter than a F-250/F-350 although I'm not sure you could call anything this big a "tight" turner.

It is very true, it makes positioning a 5th wheel so easy. People always tell me how great of a backer I am, I never mention it is the steering capability of the F450 that makes it so easy, I let them think what the want.

F-450 turning radius

compared to a F-250 or F-350, the F-450 has a 7.5’ tighter radius which equates to 15’ reduction in the turning diameter. I watched one maneuver into a parking spot 3 years ago…….very impressive!

Yes, based on your model, Crew Cab long bed.
Ford F-450
Turning Radius 25.2'
The various models of the 2022 Ford F-450 have turning radiuses between 23.8 and 25.2 feet.

Ford F-350
Turning radius 58.5'
The Super Duty F-350 comes with three cab options and two bed sizes. The Regular Cab with a short bed has a curb-to-curb turning circle of 47.7 feet, while the Extended Cab has a turning circle of 49.1 feet. The Crew Cab with a short bed has a turning circle of 53.5 feet.

Absolutely. My F-450 can turn tighter than our F-150 work truck. It's a night and day difference. Worth every penny.

Nice! So, I'm curious if you don't mind? What was the total price of the truck? Not necessarily what was financed, but the total cost, before trade in, down payments, and and warranty add on type stuff?

Congratulations on that beautiful truck. I sold my Montana and bought a diesel pusher. Sold my F-450 as I no longer needed it. I sure miss that truck!

Nice truck, but a 6 month wait is hard to take!

I waited 3 months for my 2021 when they called and said they stopped the build early and I would have to wait for a 2022, no delivery date known, at least 8 months. 6 months is a long time, but times are crazy. Thankfully it’s getting better.
I found a truck on a lot, everything I wanted except the color, and I like the color better than the one I ordered. Apparently higher trim level trucks set up to haul gooseneck livestock trailers are more popular in the upper Midwest than in NY. There were quite a few at the time if I was willing to go get one.

We waited six months, some waited eight months, now they are saying the most recent orders could be ten months. Ford stopped taking orders for 2022 Super Duties the first part of April. They have enough orders to keep the line going into December. No word yet when they will start taking orders for 2023's, but it will be a while. If you find something at a dealer (unlikely), it might have a $10k-$15k markup above MSRP. I saw a F-450 on a dealer's web site; it was listed at $135k; same truck as ours except some fancy aftermarket lift kit and a $60k premium.
