can you twin a Predator 3500 w/a Yamaha 2000?
Can I twin my Predator 3500 Inverter w/a Yamaha 2000 inverter? They both have necessary plugs but Im not sure about the "mixed" marriage . Any experience? Im thinking if I can twin them, I can run both a/cs of needed vs. one. May need to add soft starts but not a huge deal if it will work.

Since no one has answered. You might be able to do that but I don’t think you would accomplish what you wish. I don’t think the 3500 watt generator could put out more power than the 2000 watt generator. I think the output would haft to be balanced. So the running output would only be 3200 watts. I hope I’m wrong.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully someone will see the post and have more input. We have a new generator store in the area, maybe they can tell me also.

Alan,
Recommend you buy a matching generator. Hondas will not pair across different sizes.

That sounds reasonable. You never see two different sizes paired together in their advertisements.

Harbor Freight has a new inverter generator 9500 watts, 7600 running watts, 250 pounds for $1800.
Along with a 8700 watt inverter with 7000 running watts, 150 pounds for $1200.

I don't know what would happen if you twinned them but I wouldn't do it and I am a retired electrician.
However why would you need to? Install the soft start kits and the 3500 will handle easily.

Don't do it
Since the two generators "do their own thing", the 60 cycles per second of each generator will not be in phase ( you have a one in 360 chance that they might) and this will result in a really funky waveform which could damage your equipment, if not outright trip your breakers...
