5th Airborne Sidewinder Pinbox
For those familiar with this Pinbox I would appreciate your experience/opinion.
I have had this Pinbox for 5 years and am finding that there is now a little more play in the head of the Pinbox where it rests on the hitch. I'm thinking that the wedge that locks the head in place on the hitch may have slipped back a bit to allow a bit of play. Even when new there was a bit of play which caused some metal on metal squealing. Since then I have always applied a bit of grease to the hitch plate which solved the problem. I'm finding that I now have to apply more grease and the grease tends to get pushed out to the sides after a days drive necessitating application of more grease.
Is this just a normal wearing in of the Pinbox/hitch?
Has the wedge slipped requiring adjustment?
Could the wedge slip enough so that I have a catastrophic failure? Don't even want to think about this happening. 2 flex points could be like pushing a string.
For those that have experience with this Pinbox I hope I have explained this clearly. I am pulling into the Lazydays KOA in Tucson in a few days and may go into the Lazydays RV Service dept which is next door to have them look at it but would like some opinions before hand.
