tape damage on large slide
I've just got my Monty back from the RV repair place, to have unrelated work done, opened the slides and had the large one jam at the top. I saw the original owner stop to manually push the top of the slide to release it when he delivered it to us, so I did the same, but now I've found the tape repairs he made to the EPDM at the outer seam have pulled away from the aluminum facing and become badly wrinkled, and I can see the bare roof in two places. The original roof material was under the aluminum angle trim, but had torn away locally, hence his repair.
Can I repair this with Eternabond seal tape, and then lube (with Vaseline) the dried patch so it slips below the coach seal?
He used gobs of lap sealant, that has remained soft, lumpy and tacky beneath the tape.
Should the tape extend the full length of the slide or just overlap the torn material?
Should the bare roof be painted or protected where the EPDM is torn?
