We are still towing our 2002 3295RK with our 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. This last winter we made a 8 month trip across the northern states up to Bar Harbor Maine then down the east coast to the Keys. They we went north to Nashville, down to Pensacola FL. then across to New Orleans, Houston,Collage Station,Lake Havasu then home. And then only trailer problem was we lost a tire and wheel on I-95 in North Georgia. It sheared 6 of the 8 lugs and we only realized we lost it when I did a hub temperature check at the next rest area. Luckily it was only a few miles from where the wheel came off. I figured 10,000 plus on the trailer. And we were most likely the oldest trailer at the fall rally last year.

That's awesome. I would rather have an older rig going everywhere than a newer one hardly going anywhere.
That must have been an eye opener to check on wheels and have one missing. Kind of funny in one regard but very serious in another.

Still towing my 2005 2955 RL. I am the second owner. I towed it on a 10,000 mile trip to the east coast and back to California last year. Inside and out is still in great condition. I love my Montana!

Great thread on older rigs still going strong. I know keeping them stored inside really helps save on the exterior wear and tear, or if you can use a cover. We had a 2007 Thor Jazz that we had for many years and it still looked brand new when we sold it. It pays to take care of them.

I was really glad we have the I/S as the hub and rotor was about 5” above the asphalt with the wheel on it. Also Tredit had a new wheel and tire that we were able to pick up in Tampa aa couple of weeks later. One funny addition to the lost of the wheel was our TMPS went into alarm mode about 5 minutes after we pulled into the rest area. This was how I as able to tell we had only went about 10 miles without a wheel.

I'm guessing the lug nuts were over tightened with an overzealous airgun operator.?

2006 2955RL, still going strong. We’ll probably keep it as long as we are camping. It’s paid for, and I think the quality is better on the older units.

Scattershot I agree with you! My rig looks great and meets all my needs. There is no doubt that the older rigs are built better.

I agree with you. It is the exterior and zero water infiltration which what makes them last. If you have a roof leak. Mold and rott take over. It is all about maintenance. A well cared for unit will last a very long time, Maintnance is the key. Upgrades have almost zero dollar return.
Your ideas and improvements may not necessarily agree with the buyers on a used unit. But it generally is better than a stock unit provided they are done properly.
I have friends that live nearby. They have upgraded to a MDT for towing. Great people and They have a Much newer unit than mine.
I'm going to visit steve and Bonny soon just to stop in and say hi.
Our sons use to be friends. Unfortunately steve lost fingers battling a table saw. He restores furniture (antique) for a living. His wood shop barn style is wonderful. I do not believe he is a member here.
I will mention our site when I visit. Good people and Love Camping.

We have a 2008 2955rl. We’re second owners, low mileage, other than the decals, (previous owner removed them), minor issues only....has been great!
