I finally got a couple of pics of the finished product. The wife says she is happy and that's all that really matters!

Looks really good! How much weight did it add?

I took off approx. 20 lbs of fake tile material and added approx. 35 lbs. Net gain around 15 lbs.

Beautiful MOD. Happy wife, happy life.
We have the same cutting board on our cooktop as well. Have you changed out the lights in the microwave to led? After we did it was much brighter and cooler.

Old Tiles

How hard where the old tiles to get off? Want to redo the stove and coffee bar backsplash but am afraid of tearing up the wall getting the old stuff off.

On ours, the old tile came off fairly easy. My wall behind it was in good shape for applying the new tile.

Vet4jdc,

Just curious, it's been a year now since you did this install. How did it hold up over the last 12 months traveling?

It would be interesting to hear.

Dutch,

It's held up very well. We did about a dozen trips last year and probably did about 2000 miles and I haven't had any issues with it. I think the liquid nails was definitely the way to go and using a silicone caulk around the edges allows it to flex a little at the perimeter. No cracks and no loose tiles or grout....SO FAR!

That's great! I'm an avid user of Liquid Nails for everything! I'm glad it worked well for this application. I've used Liquid Nails all over my camper, but mostly to seal up cracks and holes and gaps. I've never tried it in the camper to actually adhere anything to a wall thgouh. Thanks for the update! This opens up more possible uses for it!
