Furnace not working: Possible Solution

After dealing with this intermittent problem for close to 6 years I finally found a possible solution to my intermittent furnace problems. My experience was that the furnace might start and ignite and then shut down immediately. Had this happen this Winter when temps were in the 20s and we needed immediate fix. Called an experienced mobile tech and when he arrived, the fix was a new propane switchover/regulator valve. His check on the stove was to install a manometer and activate the furnace. When the pressure dropped from 11 to 4 when the furnace gas valve opened, it was time for a new regulator. Got the impression it should not drop over 1 and immediately recover to 11. Previously had this problem the first two years of ownership and fixed it (unknowingly) by replacing the changeover/regulator valve at the two year point. None of the various shops could figure it out!!! Maybe if they had checked the pressure during the valve opening, we wouldn't have gone through two years of aborted vacations due to no furnace!! Now I carry a additional changeover/regulator valve and a manometer. Furnace can have a lot of other reasons why it may not work, but this was the fix for mine.

I also have to replace mine, but it's because I am really fed up with it lying to me about how much propane I still have left in a tank. There has to be a better change over valve than what keystone put in. Time to do the research. Mine came with a 'fairview'...doesn't sound like a quality product to me as I never heard of the brand before. John

I had a problem with my furnace not lighting. Found the OEM regulator was only supplying 9" of pressure instead of the 11" required.

Took the cap off the regulator and screwed the spring all the way down and got it up to 11'5"

Been working ever since. But bought me a pressure gauge and know how to hook it up.
