Breathing easy now...

The Chinese bombs are gone! Now sportin' American rubber

Thanks to the forum and everyones experiences, I decided to ditch the Marathons on my new Monty and replaced them with BFG Commercial TA's. I didn't have any trouble with the Marathons after 5,000, but they were most likely ticking time bombs. I feel like I don't have to continually, if not obsessively check on the tires now.

Excellent upgrade, it always amazes me when you still see the China bombs on 5th wheel with all the damage that is very visible in many RV parks. Been in many RV parks in the last 4,000 miles and in about 80% I have seen the damage done by china bombs..

I know the feeling. I ran my Missions to about 5,000 before changing them to Michelins. Still looked new, but got tired of the tension of waiting for the inevitable.

Same thing here...made one trip to FL constantly watching the tires(Mission's) in my mirrors & waiting for a Blow Out! Now riding on GY G614's!

Best update we ever did on our Montana....

I just joined the crowd, the Missions came off yesterday. Goodyear LT made in the good ole USA are now on the Monty. The Missions were relegated to a flatbed trailer that rarely gets used.

Ditto,
We replaced the Maraton's 2 months ago with Firestones. Peace of mind after reading all the problems.

We have about 10,000 miles on our TA's. They are wearing great, still almost look new. Couldn't be happier.

Are you sure they're made in the USA?

I REPLACED MY MARATHON TIRES WITH ONLY 1600 MILES ON THEM WITH BFG COMMERCIAL TA
MY LOCAL TIRE SHOP WHO MOUNTED THE TIRES, OFFERED ME $10.00 A PIECE FOR THE MARATHON( I AM EASY BUT NOT SENILE YET !!)
I LISTED THE TIRES ON CRAIG,S LIST THURSDAY NIGHT AND SOLD THEM THIS MORNING FOR $ 150.00 FOR ALL FIVE TO A LOCAL FARMER
AFTER I MADE HIM PROMISE ME NOT TO USE THEM ON A HORSE TRAILER , HE SAID THAT THEY WILL BE INSTALLED ON A UTILITY TRAILER
THAT IS USED AROUND HIS FARM FOR EQUIPMENT AND SUCH

I got close to that for my used Marathons. $35 a piece at America's Tire. Paid for one of them, plus a $50 mail in rebate. Eased the pain to the wallet a bit.

As I understand it, Goodyear was suppose to move manufacturing of the Marathons back to the US. Does anyone know if this has happened and if the US made tires are making onto the new trailers yet?

Our rig is 2 weeks old. Discount Tire matched Sam's Club price at $300 for the G614's and gave me $200 for 4 Marabombs. I left the bomb under the trailer for a spare promising myself it will only be used to hobble to get the G614 repaired/replaced. I got the lifetime road hazard replacement on the new tires. It disappoints me that these unsafe tires are being sold on new rigs.
