Are the golf carts a definite go? We will be leaving home 8/2 (I'm a real slow driver) and golf cart availabiltiy will determine if we bring bikes or not. Not planning on bringing them since I'm going to have to buy a new bike rack.

GOLF CART vs. WALKING DISTANCE

OK folks, this year is the first year we have offered golf carts for the use/rent at our Fall Rally! Let me explain to the first timers and to those that have not been to the Rally for a while about this program.

We will be using most of the Fairground camping areas for this Rally! The meeting and sessions building (ECCC Building) and the vendors building (Building F) are basically in the center of the Fairgrounds and camping areas. All of the meetings, social events, meals, and sessions will be held in the ECCC Building and the vendors and information booth will be in Building F. If you should be assigned a camping site at the furthermost camping site away from the two buildings, you will have an approximate walk of about 4-5 blocks to get to the buildings.

The weather in Goshen is unpredictable for this time of year. It could be hot and sunny or it could be rainy and cold. Sorry, we can't control Mother Nature!

Your options to get to the two buildings or across the fairgrounds to another section of the camping area are to WALK, CATCH A RIDE, DRIVE YOUR TRUCK TO A DESIGNATED PARKING AREA OR RENT A GOLF CART.

Thanks, Rondo. Always helps to “hear” voice of experience.
We never know what our weather will be - sometimes we have been in wind breakers, sometimes rain gear, sometimes sweltering with fans — but our use of ECCC (Elkhart County Community Building) with climate control and solid walls/roof is something we have all looked forward to for years.

There are also many opportunities to take a brisk or leisurely walk, bike ride, walk with “furry kids”, an EARLY morning bike ride with experienced & inexperienced cyclists — and new to us this year — “poker walk” for fun or just to enjoy a cup of coffee, heck, even no walking. We were introduced to the “Poker Walk” at the West Coast SPRING MONTANA REGIONAL RALLY in COOS BAY, OREGON this June. Lots of good FUN, plus fund-raising, and HEALTHY benefits.

JUST an UPDATE on GOLF CARTS —

We have decided to go with gasoline golf carts, so charging will not be an issue. The carts will all have a FULL TANK, good for 100 miles, and all included in the rental of $225. If you see yourself going wild and driving more than 100 miles, it just takes regular gas for your convenience.

We go to a lot of rallies at a lot of Fairgrounds. Rental golf carts are a very common option. We have been to 14 MOC Fall rallies all except the first one had the big and small tent for all activities.

We are not as young in good shape or healthy as we once were. We no longer ride bikes. We well know where both of the mentioned building are. They are nice buildings as we used them the first rally we attended. We signed up for a Golf cart.

It would be nice to know what kind of golf carts these are as some have lights and some don't.The fairgrounds MAY require lights on the Golf carts. If they do not have lights we carry a couple of flashlights we can tape of the carts . We have the standard golf course carts at our Florida winter Residence and they have lights front and back.

Thanks for the info - as only being involved for last 7 years (+/-), we (DeWitts) did not have knowledge of the very first Fall National Rally using the ECCC building. It is still very exciting to be able to use the ECCC building .... and to be hosting [jI] so many newcomers (over 50%, I think) to the FALL NATIONAL RALLY[/I]! It has been a privilege to work with the other 4 couples to pull this year together. We are sure it’s something we can work through. We have been able to visit Goshen during two other RV rallies this Spring, and witnessed how the golf carts were working well.

We welcome all comments, not just positive either — it helps the next Wagon Masters to correct/redirect/alter to have a more POSITIVE experience for ALL.
Your input IS valuable.
The golf carts will seat 4(four), use gasoline and come with FULL fuel tanks (should run about 100 miles). This vendor was from a list provided by Elkhart County 4H that have successfully been utilized. In our next discussion with the vendor, we will inquire about head/tail lights, horn, etc. We also have a golf cart we utilize at home in Georgia and our Florida retreat and know the requirements for safety are very important.
Thanks for your input.
