throw it in the street

Wow what a wake up call. Just got my TSD fuel card. I ran the auxilery tank and truck tank to almost to all most empty (90 gals for both) in anticipation of receiving the card with in days. They have built a new Love`s staition 1 mile from my house and went over to fuel up for the first time using the card. Pulled in the truck lane with out a camper and got to work.

Pump turned on with Pin # asked me a couple of questions and started fueling. Did not have to go inside or talk to anyone ( that was easy ). Pump price was 2.68/gal. Noted price on Mom and Pop station where I usally get Diesel was 2.67/gal. this day. After fueling this is what TSD did for me.

Transaction details from EFS App

Invoice 14734
Location Hagerstown, MD
Fees $0.40
Product Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel
Quantity 81.660
Unit price $1.933 / gal.
Sub Total $157.84
Discount Received $61.75

I have 20,437 miles om my truck to date
Ruffly 10 to 12 miles per/gal towing and not towing
Gallons burned to date 12 Divided into 20,400 = 1,700 gals used
Savings with card was $0.75.6 per gal. X 1,700 gals used to date
The savings could have been aproxmently $1,285 .20
Yep threw that much retirement money out in the streeet for someone to pick up.

Any body that dose not use this program is nuts. Also found out that the T/A Truck stops use the same card and discount but have not tried it there yet so don`t know for sure.
I don`t mind spending money I just can`t stand throwing it away (well buying a 41 ft. camper is an exception) I wish I would have found out about this earlier. <YMMV>

Have had the same experience using the card. Haven't tried T/A yet. Pilot/Flying J is now out of the system, however. They have a contract with Good Sam for RV fuel discounts and so, when they heard about the TSD card cut that card out for discounts even to truckers. That's fine, but as I told them, I won't be stopping there anymore.

Something tells me that if Pilot is losing the truckers too it won't be long before that Bad Sam exclusive contract is out the window! The RV biz would be a very tiny fraction of their business but they definitely don't want to lose the truckers!! Maybe we could ask the truckers to assist us by boycotting Pilot with us?

I don't know if it is true but more than one person has suggested that Bad Sam is actually keeping a big portion of the discount that they could be passing on to RVers similar to what TSD is doing.

Like you I have written Pilot and told them I would not be stopping at their locations anymore. I also called Bad Sam and told them I would not be shopping at their stores or buying any more RVs from them. Enough folks follow suit and it will impact those businesses in the only place they really care about, their bank accounts.

That is the highest discount I have seen or heard of, may have something to do with the sudden drop in oil prices. Still you are right on point with why would anyone not use this program. Like you I have a Aux tank and they just makes it that much more valuable as we can pick and chose our fueling when traveling since we have so many miles available to us. Fortunately yo have a Loves nearby, I have a Pilot/Flying J close to me but we all k ow what happened there.

Thanks for sharing your experience

According to TSD you can get discounts at Loves, TA/Petro, SAPP Brothers, Ambest, and RoadRanger. I have only used Loves so far.

I uses my card for the first time last trip. Great that I didn't have to go inside and discounts are great. Love's has the best discount. Used to use Pilot/Flying J because there are more of them. Sorry that they are no longer part of the program. I sent them a complaint and their response is below:

Pilot won’t care because there are a whole lot more trucking company’s out there with their own discount cards that haven’t been made available to RVers that will still be getting their diesel at Pilot, so all the noise from a relatively small group of RVers isn’t going to cause even the slightest bit of pain for Pilot.

Now that I changed the original tank with a higher capacity tank, I don't have to use the previously mentioned overpriced fuel stations. I can travel 1 or 2 days between fillups. With not having to refuel during a travel day allows me to fuel at local, and much cheaper stations while unhitched.

I did the same thing with Pilot. Sent a complaint then when I got the standard reply, I then pointed out that RVers also spend money in their restaurants and stores and I wouldn't be doing that either. It may not matter but they need to know that we aren't just going to roll over. It could get interesting anyway, if you spend a lot of time on the market news sites there is some concern and discussion of the possibility of Camping World going bankrupt which could also cause issues for Good Sam.

"Reselling our fuel" I expect that will be coming soon from the other truck stops. Just as soon as its brought to their attention.

All good things must come to an end. I think this one will end before it really gets going.

The problem here, is PFJ also cutoff TSD truckers also. Will they reinstate them if they drop the RVers from their program? As for reselling, in effect they are doing the same thing for the truckers in their program so what is the difference to PFJ, the fuel is all the same to them, their profit margin is still the same on all that fuel the truckers use, RVers use the same fuel why should they be punished or exploited.... The rotten apples in this barrel is CW and Good Sam. Boycott them, tell them why too.

Our Loves is always crowded to the hilt. I went there a few weeks back to get a weight and it was not a simple trick to maneuver into and around the 50 semi trucks that were there. I'm not real math savvy, but am I reading $1.93/gal for diesel? Cheapest I find it in my part of the world is $2.37. Our Loves is currently $2.54. I don't have a big tank but finding a Loves Truck Stop is easy on my travels. Is this the card you're talking about? It says trucks and diesel RVs. Wonder if that includes my tiny little dully Ram? https://www.rvtdc.com/product/tsd-lo...-fuel-program/

masterdrago, yes it does. If Loves or the others fit into your travel plans then it is a viable option to save you money. Pure and simple.

Does anyone know if there is any fuel stations in New Hampshire. I tried their website but didn't see any information on fuel station locations. I don't travel too far and don't want to get the card if there is no stations new me.
