[QUOTE=BobbyJ;1209633]Fog lights should be illegal. People set it and forget it to the detriment of the safety of all. I've had them on several vehicles and find them marginally helpful for me, but really good at blinding others. They look really good, like I'm in a real cool truck commercial! And wonder if everyone from the minivans to mazdas to 18 wheelers aren't thinking more about how they look than what they can see.

I understand your displeasure, but I disagree with your rationale. That's not to say that some vehicles have blinding lights, but more often than not, it's because of the approaching vehicle's high beams were left on or the vehicle is riding high in front, perhaps because of an excessive load. I'm 72, and properly installed on-coming fog lamps have never been an issue or blinded my vision nor anyone else I've ever spoken to, nor should they. Factory default settings only allow them to only go on with low beams, (not high) so if they're on with the high beams, someone has messed with the onboard computer or physically altered their placement. Fog lights brighten the roadside plus the front of the vehicle, so I find them very helpful when on low beams, in other words, they fill the gap from the front of the vehicle to where the low beams first pick up and therefore increase visibility. I've had fog lights factory installed, as an option, on everyone of my vehicles, ever since they've become available, therefore; even when I was younger, I felt they were useful.

Any thoughts about having your high beams on continously when going down a 4 lane highway where there is 40' separation? It seems folks want you to turn them off not because they are being blinded by them, but more like being the high beam police. Two lane highway is understandable.

@Gunny B: No, I want them to dim their lights because they are blinding me. What really bugs me is when I flash someone to get them to dim their lights, and they refuse to do so. Drivers today have lost the concept of courtesy.
