I think the closest you'll get is an American brand name, Carlisle.

The photo may look like wear but it was a new tire and coming apart. All 4 tires were wearing even and normal. This was a tire on the verge of coming apart.

The replacement Synergy brand tire I got on the road of the same type and size has about 1,000 miles so far. It is doing just fine. No signs of uneven wear anywhere.

You might want to ask Sailun why a tire having "made in Vietnam" on it's sidewall has a plant code 1Y (1Y - SHANDONG HUATAI TYRE CO., LTD. - CHINA)?

Attachment 9707
1YJ is the new code and is the Vietnamese factory, old 2 digit code was YJ.

I thought I already corrected that. Here's the new list.

Update I just got a call form sailun in Canada. I guess they are shipping my 2 tires there to be evaluated for the failure. Has anyone else reported a sailun failure to the nhtsa ..?

I don't think anyone could make a rationale decision about RV tires based on their "list."

We know from experience that tire companies have produced good and bad tires, and that most companies produce a wide range of tires for different applications. Just using GY as an example, some of their P-rated tires have been crap, but currently their ST Endurance has been a winner. The only sure way to be confident in a product is through testing, and I'm unaware of any entity that tests ST tires.

Thus, we're dependent on anecdotal evidence reported by ourselves. Most recently, we've learned that some Sailuns are being made in Vietnam, and we're starting to hear of some failures, where Sailuns from China have previously been held in high regard by most of us. Because of that new knowledge, I might not replace my Sailuns with any made in Vietnam, but time will be telling. I subscribe to Abraham Lincoln's advice not to believe everything I read on the Internet.

Well we just joined this group of Sailun failures. Tires have been on just over two years and just over 15K miles. This is a Made in China tire, not Viet Nam.
Starting to not look so good for Sailun.

Ouch! Did you get any warning of overheating or low pressure on the TPMS before separation? I just put on 5 new Sailun's and I've been watching them closely. They are ones from Vietnam. My original Sailun's from China were wearing heavily on the inside edge on the rear axle.

No warnings and never lost pressure. I no idea when it even happened. Didn't even find it until doing something else after reaching home.
Did a contact to Sailun last night, might have to order a replacement online as I can't find any Dealers in my area that carry Sailun.
Might go back to Goodyear even tho more expensive, at least I can get replacements.

When I zoom in at the bottom of that photo it appears to me that 2 treads and partway into the third were cut by something at almost 90 degrees to the tread. Anyone else see/think that?

Yep. Could have been caused by a road hazard.

I agree, had a Sailun failure couple years ago, attributed to a road hazard . Seems the sky is falling over a couple Sailun tire failures .

How soon we forget the damage ,and failures of the Goodyear G614.

IMO if that would have been a Goodyear ,it would have come apart and done some damage .To the Sailuns credit it stayed together ,and no damage to your trailer .

As said above I too was a victim of a road hazard with a Sailun, no telling how far I ran with mine deflated . When I did see it in my mirror I thought my trailer was on fire ,it was smoking that bad . Yet the tire stayed together ,and no damage to my fifth wheel .

Many places carry Sailun ,as mentioned Simpletire ,Walmart , also Big O carries Sailun. I had mine in two days from Walmart . I would sit on the side of the road for two days waiting on a Sailun replacement long before I would jump ship ,and go Goodyear
