Red face White Water Line Bathroom Sink Leaks

White water line under sink is leaking at black connector. Where does this line go and what's it for? There are 4 lines, blue, red and two white lines. We have double sink in bathroom and these lines are under sink closest to door. Bob tightened everything but its the black connector vacuum breaker is leaking.

Appreciate any help with this. Thank You

Rita,

The black valve is a back flow preventer for the black tank flush system. This is a common problem and you will only note the leak after using the black flush. You can replace the valve with a more reliable brass valve.

My husband called RV tech and problem solved. The white lines under the bathroom sink are for washer. We do not have a washer but line is active and turned off. The vacuum breaker - black connector on white line quit so my husband bypassed it. We do not plan on putting in a washer. No more leaking now.

Thanks for everyones input.

Sorry, but I am positive the RV Tech didn't know what he was talking about. That is a anti-siphon back-flow device for the black tank flush system. The washer liners are color coded Red/Blue as are all the normal Hot/Cold water lines. The only white water lines in a Montana are for the black tank flush lines. You should ensure you add an anti-siphon device to the black flush hose to ensure the black tanks doesn't back flow ( a very unlikely event but possible).

This is correct. If the "white lines" were for the clothes washer they would be red and blue like the others. The white lines (actually just 1 line that make a U turn at the back flow preventer) feed the black tank rinser and the reason it's there is to have a place for the back flow preventer. Some people replace a leaking one and others just remove it as you did. Not all "RV techs" know what they are doing. All 3 Montana fivers I have owned were/are like this.

We eliminated our backflow preventor in the rig and use an exterior one in the convienence center. Carl is absolutely correct. Take that RV repair person off the list of folks to use.
