Accuslide cable crimper
Getting ready to replace my first frayed slide cable and need some advice from those with experience.
I have the replacement cable kit but am confused on what Swagging tool to purchase to crimp the ferrules. I have read in other threads that some of you purchased them on Amazon but the ones I see only crimp up to 1/8" cable. Is the extra 1/32" cable diameter (5/32 total) a "no go" or will these work? A link to the tool you purchased would help me a lot.
Thanks,
Phil

This is the one I purchased to crimp the cable end. I have a frayed cable but have not replaced it yet. The product description says it works on 5/32 ferrels.
Make sure the stand off where the cable end attaches is lined up correctly or the new cable will get frayed also. On mine I could see where it is not lined up where it goes into the wall causing the cable to fray.

I think you need one sized for 5/32" cable. This one is but it costs twice as much. https://www.amazon.com/IWISS-Crimpin...dDbGljaz10cnVl
Others have used cable claps in a pinch. Do a Search and you should find more information.

Home Depot stocks a swagging tool at the stores that does multiple sizes. It works great just remember each ferrule needs 3 crimp locations.

You can make a smooth cut with a Dremel and a steel rotary blade. I used these instead of crimping and it works great. Just use two on each side. Been on 2 years now and no problems. Like was mentioned makes sure you adjust the cable bracket so it is going in at a 90 degree angle or it will rub and fray again. My bracket was off 1/4”+.
