I am thinking about changing the entry door lock, Have been told that many RVs are keyed the same. What has worked and not worked,

Get the keyless doorlock made by RVLock. It works great.

I installed this lock, Lippert Keyless Door lock, on my MHC 295 RL in about 10 minutes. https://store.lci1.com/lippert-keyle...ooth-door-lock

We purchased The Global Ultra ES Pro with Bluetooth Electronic Door Lock from RV Locks and More at the Tampa RV Show in January and love it – one key for everything, yes including the level up controller!!
Contact the company before you order on-line, and they can re-key the new lock before it’s shipped.
https://www.rvlocksandmore.com/Ultra...ctronic-Lock_2
If you don’t want the standard/common key (G391) for your storage compartments you can rekey your lock cylinders to match your new Ultra ES Pro with Bluetooth Electronic Door Lock. It’s about a 10 minute project to rekey and their website will walk you through the process
https://www.rvlocksandmore.com/lockskeys/Re-Key-Your-RV
Hope that helps!!

We went with a keyless entry lock by RVLock and will not go back to any other. There may be some that say the keyed entry locks can be multiple users but I have not found this.. Yes, some of the storage locks are keyed the same but have never seen any entry doors that have been keyed like others. The key that unlocks the levelup control door is the same for all units I've seen but not the entries. On my previous Montana we put on new storage door locks but that was do to having another rver open it with his keys so that was the reason for changing them.

Typically the door locks on our rig are made such that there are numerous possible key/tumbler combinations. That means that there are duplicate locks with the same key on the order of 1 in 1,000 or more, so the likelihood of you finding another rig with the same key is slim, but possible.
On baggage doors, if your keys are the gray plastic style, they are also keyed this way.
The front baggage doors and the plastic door for the jacks use a standard CH751 key. This key is used in almost every RV and trailer made and is extremely common. I have also found the same key used for various cabinets, drug cabinets at the hospital I once worked, etc. They are ubiquitous. These are the cabinets I would worry about changing first if you're so inclined, because nearly everyone with an RV has that key.

At our SOB Rally a couple of years ago, Bauer Locks was there and we had them re-key all our locks, storage, generator, Level-Up, all to the same key. Sure is nice to only need one key for everything.

We installed the Latch IT lock. Comes with two remotes and works great. We had a couple issues with the remotes, but the company sent us new ones right away.
Good company and very responsive.

Changed mine to the keyless lock. Came with two remotes took about 15 minutes to do. Happy with it

I installed this lock in May last year. For what ever reason, the circuit board started to fail. Fearing a one year warranty, I checked. “Lifetime Warranty”. Yippee. I contacted RVLock and resolved the problem quickly and replacement circuit board and keypad posted out. All I paid for was the postage, which is reasonable. Very comforting that RVLock stand by their product and are easy to contact and liaise with.

We love the switch to the Keyless RVLock. No issues and so much easier than remembering to take my keys with me!

Locking our keys in the RV in Monument Valley wasn’t ideal. Not many locksmiths within 100 miles. Remembering 4 numbers is so easy.
