Paul, not sure what year/model rig you have. My 2019 3791RD also only has one receptacle for the fridge. That receptacle is wired to the auto transfer switch mounted to the ceiling of my basement pass through. From that auto transfer switch, I have 120v feed from the distribution panel and 120v from the inverter, also mounted on the ceiling of the basement pass through. The wire from the ATS to the inverter has a normal plug on the end which is plugged into the 2000 watt inverter about 1 foot away.
When shore power is on, the ATS passes 120v to the fridge receptacle from that source. When no shore power is available, the ATS passes 120v from the inverter, assuming batteries are switched on and have enough juice. The ATS will favor shore power as its source, so when both the inverter and shore power are supplied, shore power is passed to the fridge. That way I can leave the inverter on as a backup power source when the electricity fails.
Just to note so there is no confusion, the ATS is a 120v auto transfer switch specifically for the fridge circuit, not the same as your ATS that comes with the generator prep. That ATS would need to handle 240v/50Amp.

Sorry for the long winded post above. If you want to add additional receptacles to your inverter, you would need to remove the power source to those receptacles from the distribution panel and add a source from the ATS, or chain them from the fridge receptacle. You cannot wire them from both the ATS and the distribution panel, circuit breakers. There needs to be only one source of power to the receptacles from the ATS and the ATS will decide what feeds that circuit.

You have a 2020 with an inverter. You do have inverted outlets. They should be marked with a yellow sticker. If you're not on shore power and dont have the generator running you should have power to them. If not check the inverter battery shut off switch and make sure it's on and find your GFI and make sure it's not tripped.

Paul,

Have you checked with the dealer where you bought your rig? Maybe it is an early 20 without the powered outlets.

I have re-read this a couple of times and I am confused. First, I see people mentioning a 2020 but didn’t see where Paul said it was a 2020. I see “I am putting 400 watts of Solar” and “I have 400 watts of solar”. I also see that there are not wires going from the inverter to the bus. All of the factory installed inverted outlets (except fridge only) run through the distribution panel via a transfer switch. That is usually a combo charger/inverter/transfer switch like the Magnum. My guess is Paul’s trailer (as mentioned by Zack) does not have inverted outlets. I would also recommend that Paul add his equipment details to his signature to better assist with getting the correct information. Montana vs High Country, Legacy vs Non-Legacy, solar information, year and generator info all impact equipment, wiring, brands and recommendations. JMHO

Spot on. That was my guess too.

I was looking at some videos of the 2020 and it appears that the inverter is just for the fridge. Learn something new everyday...

7 outlets

Thanks for all the info. I have a 2020 3121R. Everything works as supposed to. I have a 1k inverter with separate auto transfer switch going to my fridge outlet only. That is the only outlet on the inverter loop. What I was wanting to get the others working before replacing my inverter to a 2k if possible. Montana says my trailer should have came with a 2k inverter, but didn’t. I was hoping someone else had similar issues and found a solution without going thru the trouble of retiring.
Thanks for all the input ,maybe my thread title wasn’t the correct wording

Hi Paul,

The 1k inverters are dedicated to the fridge circuit only. You can do what you want, but your gonna need to trace wires behind the basement wall and create the inverter loop yourself.

I pulled my 2k inverter kit (inverter, control, xfer box, fuse, rotary disconnect, 1/0 leads) from my unit. It is available if you are interested.

Check in your passthrough for a black plastic box cover, maybe backwall middle, marked "AC Inverter Prep". I can sketch out how they did it if you want to roll your sleeves up.
