Lippert Jacks to do not retract complelty

Hi I have a 2018 Montana with a self leveling system. I have one jack in the back of the trailer on the passenger side that retracts about 70% and stops. All the rest of the jacks fully retract. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can solve this?

Thanks

John

Will it retract manually?

Yes it will retract fully manually which I think is odd. It only retracts 70% or so in auto retract. Lippert said to do a level reset or I have a bent jack which seems odd that I would have a bent jack. Thanks for your help

Do you get an error message? Have you tried pushing retract again to see if it will come up? The auto reset breaker may be tripping before they are all retracted. Also, check all the electrical connectors to insure they are tight.

When it is cold I have the same problem so I go to manual and raise it up.

reset the auto breaker

So - last week I had an issue with my auto levelers - not the same as yours - but I was on the phone with Lippert and the guy was telling me to push the auto reset button. I did not have a clue where to look...it was dark and raining.
I replaced my factory breaker with an 80 amp breaker last weekend...but here is a pic of my factory breaker and the reset button...

Lippert Jakk

Thank you everyone for your advice, mine did this without it being cold. Lippert said it could be a bent jack but I find that hard to believe since it goes up manually just fine. I'll try the auto level reset in the spring unless someone else has an idea.

How would I know if I had a bent jack shaft (hydraulic)

Thanks

Bent jack

I clipped a curb a couple of months ago and the mounting bracket bent but the jack still functions correctly and was not bent. Maybe someone can post a pic of a bent non-functioning jack.

Also - Can someone direct me to instructions in the FAQ for how to rotate an attached pic?

I asked the same thing to the higher-ups. Here is their response.

There is no easy way to fix a rotated image. If you're feeling magnanimous you can download the image to your own computer and edit it, then edit the post to reload the image.

But why does this happen?

Most phones auto rotate the view for the viewer. If you take a pic in landscape orientation the pic will display properly regardless of the way you turn the device. The forum can't do that. Most phones default camera orientation is portrait - folks shoot a pic in the non-default view and it always looks fine to them - they upload the pic here and it displays in it's default view (on it's side).

The solution for most folks to fix this is to open the image holding the phone in portrait orientation, and resave the image on their device. When they upload it here - it should behave correctly.

Some phones have onboard software to fix this issue - some don't. Confusing...

I have played with pictures using my Samsung. It always seems to load sideways regardless and there is no internal function to change the rotation. My answer, and it isn't pretty, is to send the picture to my computer, use a photo tool of your choice to view and correct the rotation (if needed), then upload that picture to the forum. As the forum interface using a mobile device leaves something (a lot) to be desired, I always use a computer to post.

Thanks is is possible to bend the jack extended when it lifts the trailer wheels off the ground? Lippert thought that was possible but I can't imagine one jack failing, if it did I would just have to repack it, costly 600.00

If you could bend a jack by having the wheels off the ground, I should have bent many jacks. I've had the Level-up system on three RVs since 2011 and have had wheels off the ground more times than I can count.

Were you on shore power or 12V. If on 12V there’s a good chance your 50A breaker trips.

I doubt the jack is bent if you can raise it when it is in manual mode or it comes up easily when weather is warm. I have the same problem as many others in that it won't come up all the way on the passenger rear side when cold and have to raise it manually. This is obviously very common with the jacks whether your rv is new or old. Mine has been this way since new. I would keep raising it manually when cold and not worry about it.

Have a similar problem but it happens no matter what the temperature. Jacks will come up and then it is as if power was cut (it is - the 50 amp circuit breaker cuts off and then come back on a couple of seconds later). I can then raise the jacks a bit more before the breaker acts up again. Many have changed out their 50amp breaker for 80 amps, and upgraded the battery cables to handle 80 amps as well. Supposedly, many of the manufacturers are now sending new units out with 80 amp circuit for the slides and leveling systems - I can't swear to it though as I've not seen a 'new' unit is some time. Kansas City has their annual RV Show in a couple of weeks, I hope to make it there and will try to check this out.

I've had the identical problem with my 2016 3791RD since just after it was new. When auto-retracting the rear door side jack doesn't fully retract.
