Help me pick replacement battery

So I wrecked the battery my 2021 3854br came with by ignoring it in storage. What should I replace it with. We rarely dry camp but my unit has the 5500 onan generator. Do I really need this many cranking Amps. Should I go to agm and would that be a problem for my unit. Help please. I have a centennial dc27mf. I am gonna hook up a solar panel to trickle charge it in storage in the future.

If you do not have the residential refrigerator you don't really need a large battery bank. Cranking amps are not the important part of your battery. You want to get a true deep cycle battery. They are usually measured in amp hours instead of CCA or cold cranking amps.
AGM or so called "maintenance free battery" is a better option, but also more expensive. The main difference between AGM and FLA or flooded lead acid batteries is that AGM do not require maintenance, whereas FLA batteries will need to be monitored and have the electrolyte topped off occasionally with distilled water. Also, AGM are more forgiving in terms of shock and vibration than flooded cells.
With either option, you don't want to discharge your batteries beyond approximately 50%. Anything more can damage the cells and destroy the battery.

Also, you will want to measure the battery you have, length, width and height. It looks like it is in a pretty tight battery box in the picture. I'm fairly certain it is a Group 27 battery, but the dimensions can vary widely among different groups, so make sure whatever you get, it will fit in your battery box.

I bought two group 27 Diehard AGM batteries from Sams. No maintenance.

Great advice on post 2. There are only 4 battery manufacturers in the US. They make almost all the batteries sold in the country. You need a deep cycle battery. You are buying led it’s heavy so go buy a a nice heavy battery no matter what name is on it. Almost all retailers sell batteries from several manufacturers. Diehard,Advance, Walmart and everybody else sells the same batterie with a different name on it. They are private labeled.

I've always had luck with one good AGM battery.

thanks for advice all, definitely need a 27 for the size of the box. So cranking amps wont matter for the onboard onan generator??? Based on feedback here I will go agm..... I will be able to hook up a little solar panel pictured to agm in storage right? Assume that's not an issue?

I believe i bought 2 of those at Sams Club a couple of months ago for $168 each. I just tried to search area Sams online and it looked like none were in stock...which is the same situation i found when i started shopping. I just happened to be in our Sams one day and there they were on the shelf.

That is a good option for replacement at that price. AGM batteries are typically much more expensive than flooded. I have had really good luck with the Duracell Ultra batteries in my boat.

The only reason you would need cold cranking amps would be to start your generator with an electric start. See if you can find one with 100 amp hours. Your usable amp hours with that 92 amp hour battery is 46.6 amp hours. Check to see how many cranking amps is required to start your generator. Probably not many but its good to know when shopping for a battery.

I am a huge fan of the Optima brand batteries. I have my RV plugged into power 24x7 and I burned through several standard deep cycle batteries before going to Optima. The model you select is more about the amount of rom you have in the box. In my previous RV the batteries were over 5 years old and still going when we sold the RV. In our current Montana they were installed when I purchased it in 2016.
