Another Fuel Price Post

I really don't understand why everyone is complaining about fuel prices. I topped off my nearly empty tank for $41.90 yesterday. That will be enough fuel to mow my lawn twice before I have to fill the mower again.

..........Yeah the old 5 gallon lawnmower can costs now over $30.00 in So California to fill. I feel for the poor professional gardeners out there having to drive everywhere and fill all their tools. Our pool-man drives a lifted Ford 7.3 diesel dually on 37's and it's has to be killing him. Praying things go back to a reasonable price.

So far we have planned our road trip up the east coast to Nova Scotia based on diesel prices along the way. We have been using our EFS card along with the Open Road app to find the cheapest diesel price. So far we have averaged 1$ per gallon discount from the advertised sign price. Last fill up at a TA truck stop in Greenland Maine was $5.06/gallon. Unfortunately that as far north as Open Roads app goes. We will be using Gas Buddy as we head further north. We have 2 gas cans. I really wish now I had installed a transfer tank in the truck bed last year.

I looked at some of our previous trips. In 2014 we traveled across the country from Florida and all the way up to Fairbanks, Alaska. were paying $3 to 5 in the US and one stop in Canada fuel was $1.99 a Liter. Don't remember anyone complaining then like they are now.

I use Gas Buddy, but I don't belong to the $9.99/month plan because when we are not traveling and that's several months out of the year, it barely pays for itself. Anyways for us free Gas Buddy users who save on average 5 cents a gallon ... that's a whopping $1 per $100 spent on fuel. Not really worth it in today's environment. Plus there is a $300 a week limit, also in today's environment ... a one day fuel supply towing say @600 miles. November of 2019 when fuel was in the $2.50 - $3.00 a gallon range ... Gas Buddy made a bit more sense.

Shell in Silver City NM May 26,2022 was $5.19. Local said that was down $.30 from last fill up. Demoing, NM had several below $5 the day before.

In reference to post #5 ... I'm only citing fuel prices in the KS, MO, OK, TX, NB, IA, AR vicinities of which I have documented fuel logs. 2018 - 2019 timeframe we always paid $2.79 to $3.05 / gal for diesel compared to today's $4.99 to $5.29 / gal for diesel. Thus all the bitching and moaning you hear today from the southern corn belt.

Now, THIS is the first fuel cost post on any forum site I've visited that actually made me laugh when I read it! Thanks for the sunshine!

Just got back from near Santa Cruz CA. Not my idea of location and add to that, $7.19 for fuel. It felt like paying ransom to visit the kids. The farmers market had good looking food at way over the price at stores. This is the first time I saw eggs at $11.00 per dozen.

Just topped off my truck today and it was $6.24. Last week it was $6.60 and the previous top off the week before, $6.70. Whoopee (I think). Since we are currently RVless, that ol' credit card bill wont hurt quite as much though the grocery store isn't helping

Gotta love the Vampire State of NY with the ridiculously high taxes

The chicken/egg plant that was burned down may have something to do with that! When I heard about that happening two thoughts ran through my head.... the poor chickens that all died! And second, this is a good reason to raise the price of eggs. I told my wife... just watch, the price will be $1.00 an egg. You report is almost spot on!

We use to have chickens. I guess it's time to get some more while we can!

Now, this is just a bunch of rain on my sunshine!

Going FL to MT a roundabout way. Over $100 any day we travel. But getting plenty of cc points!
