Poor AC

I have a Montana 3231 CK 2022 year model
The AC marginally cools in main cabin. And the same for the bedroom. I understand it’s been unusually hot but some days I can’t get temp below 87 during the day. Is there a way to increase air flow from overhead vents ? Am I missing something?
Thanks for any recommendations

Inadequate cooling is a frequent complaint here The causes range from bad position of the A/C over the hole in the room, bad taping of the ducts, collapsed ducts, outlet vents that restrict airflow, and on.

You are best served by doing a Search on terms like "a/c cool" or "air conditioner" or "ducts tape" or such to find the posts.

Hopefully one of the many who have attacked this problem will be along to point to specific problems and solutions.

Lance - welcome to the forum!
Maybe if you relocated farther north to - say - Sulpher Springs - it might be cooler up there than Quitman. I’m just kidding! I’m a former Hawkins-Tyler-Henderson resident.

As Carl suggested - there is lots of discussion about this very issue. You are not alone. We sometimes have a Dyson fan oscillating and blowing air on DW and I and the dogs. I put both ACs on high and never set them to cycle on and off…just blow and blow hard 24-7. Nights are nice! July 4 we took a portable AC with us as a test and it helped a bunch…even though I probably did not have it set up properly.

To increase Airflow, remove all the ceiling vents and return screen.
The downside is you will get a lot of dust build up on your coils. You will need to clean them VERY frequently.

What's the outdoor temp when it's 87 indoors? There's only so much the AC systems can overcome...especially when in direct sun

What AC systems do you have? Coleman with interior access to the plenum or Dometic whisper quiet with no interior access? What can or can't be done depends on which one you have.

You can remove every ceiling vent to check how well they are sealed to the duct. The top of the vent should be no higher than flush to the bottom of the duct so that no part of it is protruding into the duct space, which can inhibit air flow. And it should we well taped/sealed so that no air is blowing into the attic space.

You might get a boroscope so you can check the ducts to make sure they are completely open throughout.

Report back with more info to get more specific help.

We put ours on high fan at 7:00 am, before it gets to hot and the ac can't catch up. Currently in Florida.

A quick and easy test you can do is as follows: Get a digital BBQ thermometer, drop the cover and remove filter on a return (the rectangular ones) closest to the unit and stick the probe into the air stream, next do same measurement at a supply vent closest to the unit. If you get a difference between 18-22 degrees, the AC is doing it's job. There are some additional measurements you can do but require climbing on the roof and using an ammeter. If you see a temperature split within this range, the issue is in the air distribution system; ducts and diffusers.

As mentioned, there some DIY things you can do and if you have units with interior access, there are even more things you can do.

In the meantime, leave your fans on high manual, don't adjust the temperature overnight. If it gets too cold in the bedroom, get another blanket.

If his is like mine and has a Colman, the newer Colman's already have sealed separation. I found that the new Keystone vents are crap. I replaced with the old style louvers. They move more air. Post a pic of your air return.
