Water Heater not Filling

Went camping this weekend and hooked up to city water. I have the water heater bypass turned to off and the tank fill power fresh turned to normal flow. However, when I opened the pressure release valve no water came out. What am I doing wrong. Afterward, I filled my fresh water tank and turned the pump on and the water heater filled up. Not sure what I’m doing wrong with the city water connection.

Since you have a 2013 did you fill the fresh water tank from the rear? If so, check to see if you are actually connected to the fresh water intake in the convenience center. Hooking up to the wrong inlet is a common error.

I filled the fresh water tank at the convenience center. That works fine. The water heater filled up. But, initially I hooked up to city water and could not get water heater to fill, as stated in my initial post.

You did it exactly correct. When you are filling your fresh water tank (valve position), all the incoming water will go to the fresh water tank and no where else. Once a few gallons fill in the fresh water tank, then you can turn on your on-board water pump and fill the water heater from the fresh water tank.

If you are NOT filling your fresh water tank, instead running on city water, the water heater will fill until the system pressurizes. You'll need to open a hot water faucet somewhere to purge the remaining air from the water heater so it will finish filling. Once the faucet quits spitting and kicking air and runs a steady stream, your water heater is full. Then it's safe to turn your water heater on.

You system did exactly as it was suppose to do. And you did it right.
