AC issue

New to this 5th wheel life! I have a question. We have 2 ACs which operate independently of each other. We are plugged into shore power. Twice now, after turning on the 2nd AC, the power at the pole is tripping. Any idea why?

NikiLance - it will be helpful to know the year and model of your RV.

Nike,

Sounds like you may have 30 amp service at the pedestal which will not normally support 2 a/c unless you have soft starts installed. To run 2 a/c you want 50 amp service.

Many of us utilize an electrical management system, otherwise known as an EMS, in order to see what is being delivered by the power pedestal at RV parks and protect us from crappy service at some parks. As az traveler noted above, 30 amp service will not support two ac units or sometimes even one of the voltage delivered is low.

We do have 50 amp service and we are plugged into it through a surge protector.
