King Pin Lock?
My DW had to fly home to deal with a family emergency while in Laredo and I will need to pick her up in Phoenix when I get there. In Laredo I didn't worry about the FW due to being in a gated TX state park when I left to take her to the airport. In Phoenix I will be there only long enough to unhitch, drive to the airport, pick her up and return to the FW to hitch up and depart Phoenix. I do not feel comfortable leaving my FW without some security it won't be stolen. I'm thinking of a king pin lock to make it difficult to steal. Anyone use one and if so what model/brand is a good secure one? Finding an RV park for 1 night in Phoenix close to airport doesn't seem to be available as everything is either a minimum 6 months lease or a dump with security issues.

I don't have one, but have been eyeing the Ft Knox kingpin locks. Hopefully others will chime in. Long solo drive to Phoenix. Fair winds and following seas....

We have one similar to this one.
AMPLOCK U-LPCVR | Heavy Duty Conical Lock for Fifth Wheel | Patented 1-Cylinder Kingpin Lock for 5th Wheel Travel Trailer | Prevent Traction with Chain https://a.co/d/9d8mc7J
You can disable your hydraulic system by removing the inline red 5A fuse above the hydraulic pump in the corner.
This fuse goes to the Level-up control panel (and your tank heaters, ask me how I know, lol).
If they can't move your slides or jacks, your rig isn't going anywhere.
We also have a Tracki (tracking device) hidden on board.

pin locks are useless against a 4" battery angle grinder, any self respecting camper thief will own a cheap one from Harbor Freight and will defeat any lock in 15 seconds. Comb lock picks available on Ebay will open any lock in 5 seconds or less. The only way to really secure your trailer is to take one or more of the tires off and put the tire in the back of your truck along with the lug nuts. Best just not worry about it. It will take more time to hook up to the trailer and leave than defeat any lock.

First time in the past 29 years I have been apart this long (almost 3 weeks) from DW, and yes it is a long solo drive.

That is an excellent idea, easy to do too. Might even install a toggle switch for future use too. Not sure on a Monty as old as ours but I know there is the 30A fuse to the Hydraulic pump I can remove. Thank you.

There are many different kinds available. And all could be defeated by someone who really wanted to steal a 5er. But I think just the sight of one will send any but the most determined on their way. I used one like the link below for years while mine was in storage.

I will unlock almost any lock but not a Medico lock. They used to offer $10,000 to anyone who could pick their lock. Never had to pay out because they can’t be picked. The tumblers are put in on different angles and must be unlocked with all of them on the right angle and shoved in to the right depth. If you need security like is on most important buildings in DC get one.

Best answer right here.
Just an question? Where will you be unhitching your trailer? In a shopping mall parking lot, or at a city (paid) parking lot? Or somewhere different?
It's just a suggestion, but if you are a member of a civic organization, like the American Legion, Elks, even the Masonic Lodge, VFW (Veteran's of Foreign War), a church denomination of some sort, Mormon, Southern Baptist, United Methodist, or some other religious group,.... maybe you could contact one of their institutions located there and see if you could park your camper in their parking lot instead of just dropping it at a "Wall Mart" lot scenario. At least, your camper would be parked with "friends".... at least an organization that helps take-care-of-their-own! Plus, they'd be more likely be a "brother" to you and do much more to protect and guard your camper. Sometimes these organizations are just down right territorial and very protective of their members and extended members across the entire nation ... I'm not a Mason, but I do know the Masons REALLY watch out for each other. And American Legion members also are truly comrades-in-arms. I know, I'm a member of the American Legion. It's just a suggestion!

Actually after chatting with the DW she will uber from the airport to the Gilo River Casino RV parking lot about 8 miles away. I plan to arrive about 9am and she arrives on the 12:05 pm flight from Seattle. The casino has a very large area set aside for RV and semi truck parking, no services but a very large area.
I learned some very interesting stuff about the American Legion and VFW locations. Found many are on HH and BW web sites and we have stayed at a couple with very nice accommodations with even hookups for power and water and would not allow me to pay because I am a veteran or at a very reduced rate. Gave me pause as to why I have not joined those organizations. Looking into it after getting home.
We have actually stayed at some church parking lots we found on HH and BW sites. Couple even had hookups for power and water. No problem with any of them either. Enjoyed their Sunday services as well,

The Lock picking lawyer must be rich then. He has been picking them for some time.
As far as puling a fuse, the battery and all the solenoids are right there in one place one jumper cable to the hydralic motor and a short wire to any of the solenoids can raise the all the legs.
Really I wouldn`t worry about it, if you are take a tire off. The easy fixes are just as easy for the thief to defeat..

Thank you very much. I will check that RV park out. I did a lot of searching but couldn't find one I liked and most wanted a minimum of 6 months lease.

Thanks for the update.
Medico was one of my first and best industrial customers. Their buyer said he would give me one of their locks and the ten grand it I could open it because at the time 40 years ago there had been no takers. I haven’t did anything for them for over 35 years.
I think that lock was one of their original or close to original locks. The generation 4 lock is much more secure than that lock. With more security features. I would be very interested in seeing it could be picked. That original lock will stop almost all thieves.
An interesting note. The original lock was developed by a man named Roy Spain. When Medeco was originally sold Roy split the 40 million dollars up between him and 3 friends who had helped him develop the lock.

I have a simple method for when parking any of my trailers (FW, car hauler, utility), all of them have wheels with spoke or holes in the webs through which I run steel cables or heavy chain and good heavy locks. I know a thief can cut cable, chains and locks but thieves look for soft target and anything that slows a thief down makes your item less attractive. If a thief is really determined to take something there isn't a lot you can do. I do use hitch pin locks and tongue locks in addition to the cables/chains and locks.
We live in a semi-rural area and quite a few of our neighbors have lost trailers and other expensive items. I am probably more paranoid than most people but securing my possessions has prevented losses so far. I have encountered one instance where a couple of young men decided to park in our yard just to "visit" at 2 AM. I approached their blind spot and tapped on their car window with the muzzle of my 1911 to get their attention. I suggested they find another place to "visit". That happened about 5 years ago and they haven't returned to my knowledge.

We live at the end of a dead end private road and have a driveway trigger across our road. I'm a light sleeper anyway and the trigger caught my attention so I looked out the window facing the road. I saw their taillights switch off which caused the rest of the events...
After two campaigns in Iraq I think I can maneuver pretty stealthily in the dark...

Have one and use it when scum comes to steal a rig they want in and out . Easiest target is one without. Crime of convenience. Any lock will do. As long as highly visible.
