Internet Hookup to Montana H/C

We have a 2021 High Country and we are down in Florida. We will be getting internet router from local cable company. I am thinking of putting the router underneath in the storage bay and pulling cable from outside cable connections directly to the router. Does anyone know of another way to connect router to the coach?

If router is wifi capable and you do not need any hard wired connections, this will probably work fine.

You could route the cable under the electric slides. There is a rubber gasket that slides along the bottom of the slide. There is like approx 1/4"-1/2" gap you can get cables through there. A coax cable will fit through there easy, not sure about an ethernet cable. The rubber is pretty thick so it may take some to get it through. Best area is at either end of the slides. It may stop a few inches into the hole, it is probably hitting the bottom of the couch. I had to use two screwdrivers to push down the gasket one time. If there is no gap on the inside this may not work.

They do make thin coax and ethernet cables that you could run through a window.

I’m thinking of running the cable to the modem through the bottom of the propane area and setting the modem and router in the front storage area.

That's a great access plan for the cable but I think I would try to get the modem in the basement. I would think It's a little more environmentally friendly than the front storage area.

On both of our Monty's the cable comes in with the water hose and then goes thru a small hole I drilled in the convienence center wall (but there is room to route it between the divider and the storage door), and then the router sits on the floor of the basement and gets power from the basement plug.

I made access to run television coax cable outside the camper a little more convenient by putting the wire up through the passenger side propane tank area, then drilling a couple choice holes to feed the wire where it needed to go. Works for me.

Do all Montanas have a electric wall plug in the pass thru area? I don't have access to mine, but don't think it does. It is, however, 8 years old!!

I did as you suggested and ran it up through the opening for the water and then between the divider and basement door. Thanks for the help!

I built some shelving on the passenger side up against the wall. I think maybe it is there??? Or maybe Mountaineers (being cheaper!) don't have it at all.

I would try to center the router in the rig, while the distance the signal travels is not far, it will give you better signal throughout your rig, especially with the amount of metal that will cause some interference.

When I was hooking up my WeBoost antenna (which also uses coax), I ended up repurposing my Satellite connection. We stream or use the CG's cable, so the two satellite connections were not in use and they nicely are already routed to the living room's TV and the bedroom's TV. I ended up using the bedroom one, but you might want the living room connection based on where you want to place the router and where there is electrical. The best part is that I did not need to route any of my own wires, and everything was nice and clean. Now when I connect the WeBoost antenna, the coax gets routed right into my utility closet just like the cable TV.

That is almost how we have it, We come in the convenience station with the ethernet cable and into the basement. WE have done this for the past 5 years or so with no problems and can use the internet outdoors too.

I just plugged the router into all the connections behind the TV.
