Built in Surge Protector 2022 Montana Legacy

2022 Montana Legacy 3781RL is supposed to have a built in surge protector. Went through all the manuals nothing regarding the surge protector. Anybody know what brand, model, and where it is installed?

We have a 2021 3790RD, and it came with a PD (progressive dynamics) "all in one" Transfer Switch that includes Surge Protection. Note this was a basic surge protector with no low voltage protection.

We had issues with the switch a few weeks ago, and the factory sent out a Southwire Automatic Transfer Switch with Surge Guard, I believe it was this model - link
My best guess is that you should have the Southwire as above.

Ours is located behind the wall of the main storage bay. Basically, the wire from the back of the hose reel goes up from behind the water bay, then to the unit that is mounted on a wall behind the rear panel of the storage bay (hope that makes sense).

BTW, I wish that they would go one model up for full protection. For example, Southwire makes a "full protection" ATS that also add brownout protection (under voltage). The model they sent me offers surge protection but not brownout protection.

If you don't mind, look to find the box behind your storage bay panel, and report back on what model they have installed for you. Thanks!

Congratulations on your new rig.
Do you have the progressive transfer switch?
If so, surge protection is built-in.
From the Fall Rally, we learned that Keystone would be replacing the Progressive switch with a different brand ( Can't remember which one (old timers)).

Several of us with Supersolar Flex removed the transfer switch and installed a Bulldog ems unit for surge and power protection since we don't have an on-board generator.

Welcome to the MOC.

I realize that there all others out there but this is the one i had on my prior motorhome and now my 3931fb. it has saved me a few times with low voltage that i have had at a few parks during the hot summers. you can see what it protects for on the chart.

Hello all, not to highjack the OP, our 2021 3790RD Legacy came with the southwire 41261. I want to remove it and replace with hardwired Watchdog so I can monitor load. ATS function don’t matter, I do not plan for installed generator. Has this been done?

Yes. It should be a relatively easy swap. We do love being able to monitor the Watch Dog from our phone.

Pd52dc

Keystone replied that I have a PD52DC from Progressive Industry. Does do low/high voltage but everything else up to 3300 joules.

I thought last year they switched over to Southwire transfer switch with EMS. We replaced our PD switch with a Hughes Watchdog because we don’t have the built in generator. The only reason that transfer switch was in ours is for the EMS.
