Generator no power

When I am hooked up to a generator I have no power coming in and the red light “Surge Protector Tripped” is on. When hooked up to shore power all is good. I have tried 4 different generators with the same result. Dealer keeps telling me it’s the generators. Honda tells me the generators are fine. Any ideas?

4 generators wouldn’t all be bad. Do you have an automatic transfer switch or are you plugging the camper into the generator?

You need a neutral ground bonding plug. Your surge protector is not seeing the bond between the neutral and ground and tripping. Most inverter generators have a floating ground. You can purchase one or make your own.

You can make a neutral ground bonding plug quicker than you can order one. Get a male extension cord end and connect the neutral connector with the ground connector. Just be sure not to use the hot 120 volt connector. Should cost a couple bucks.
