2014 Montana Big Sky 3850FL Refrigerator Needs Replacing

Has anyone replaced their refrigerator in a 2014 Montana Big Sky 3850FL? The refrigerator is a 12 cu ft with four doors with the raised panel on the exterior. The refrigerator does not sit on the floor. It sits above the vacuum and the fuse box and probably part of the furnace components. It has been recommended that we look at a residential refrigerator. Others have stated you need to add inverter boxes and additional batteries to use a residential refrigerator and you also lose LP access. Undecided whether to spend $3,000 to repair, purchase a residential model....if it will fit, or purchase another RV refrigerator. Please comment or make any recommendations.

They are now making 12 DC Compressor Units if you don't want to go the Inverter route. I wouldn't put in another Fire Risk, neighbors just lost their 5th Wheel to a Propane Fridge fire that was just replaced several years ago.

We had to have the cooling unit in ours replaced twice in 2015, one due to crystals clogging it, the second time due to a leak. At the second replacement I installed the ARP protection device, now called Fridge Defend, and the fridge is still working perfectly and fire safe. Check out the ARP device. www.arprv.com
