There must be an answer to this

I have a 2013 3100rl Montana and have wondered whether it is possible to add a remote on off switch for the existing overhead light toggle switch above the kitchen table. My wife is 5 foot and cannot reach it without a step stool. When I watch her do it, it looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Has anyone seen something that I can attach to the wall that would solve this problem.

Thanks,

Not being familiar with a 2013 3100rl I can't say if it's possible but on my dining room table overhead light that is mounted in the slide out I see no reason wiring couldn't be run from the light to the slide wall and then down the wall to a wall mounted switch. If I did it I would bypass the light mounted switch and just use the new wall mounted one.

Good question? I hadn't thought about it being tall, but I understand how it can be difficult to reach the switch for some.

I don't remember but I think that light is 120V. If so here is one possible solution assuming the receiver will fit in the dome light (which I am pretty sure it will).
https://dewenwils.com/products/indoo...RoCRj4QAvD_BwE

Now if the lamp is 12V then maybe this will work.

There appears to be a number of remote control switches out there. Google should find them

If it's a 120vac fixture, maybe a Bluetooth smart bulb?

If it's 110 volt you can use a smart bulb and control it with an app on your phone or Alexa. I have about 20 of these.

Just curious…as some have mentioned - most units have a wall switch on the slide wall for the 12 volt lights in the slide/ over the table. I looked a a few YouTube videos of your model. What does the switch I have circled in the screen shot below control? Is the light over the table 12 volt or 110 volt? Is the light in the cabinet soffit 12 volt?

My slide 120 vac light bulbs were very small bulbs. Too small to be changed to smart bulbs.

You might could find a pull chain light switch to replace the existing pushbutton switch.

I had the same problem with mine its a 12 volt light. what i did was added a switch to the wall and ran wires from light to switch along the outside of ceiling and down wall to switch. I put wires in a channel i bought at homedepot to hide the wires. the channels have adhesive tape to hold it to the wall

Search Amazon for this item. It works for the overhead bedroom lights.

If it's a puck light you are referring too, they sell this one on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...XT6XRPY75&th=1

We haven't installed it yet, but an RV friend recommended it - we are thinking of getting it for our bedroom slide, as we don't have a switch there either, and I almost have to stand up on the bed to turn it on....plus it's a super bright light that is currently there - definitely not a night light like we had in our previous RV.

I’m lazy, so I just replaced the on off switch with a pull chain switch that has a long enough cord on it to make it an easy reach for my 5’2” wife. It’s even easier for me since I no longer need to reach up and find the switch. You can get the switch at Lowe’s or Home Depo for about 5 bucks. EZ PZ install!

Thanks for your time. There is not a switch on the side cabinet. It is a plug. As far as the overhead lights, they are both 12 volts. I'm sure you can tell from the picture how awkward it is for a short person to reach it

The light above our dinning table is the same one you have. It's hard to reach the small button as it's on the back side on the light. So you can't reach it when standing next to the table. You almost have to be sitting at the table and then reach up. Which can be challenging.
I was thinking of rotating the light fixture 180 degrees so the button would be facing outward and easier to reach while standing next to the table.

What Books340 said in post #9 if indeed LED lights.
Time 13:49 in the linked video shows just how easily these can be installed.

Good luck and happy camping.

I watched the video and checked the link to the light LED light dimmer. It's currently out of stock on Amazon and according to the site, it says no idea when it will be back in stock .... bumber! I've been wanting a fix like this for 5 years now. Finally, found one that will work and easy to do, and bam! Not in stock!

OK, I did some internet searching and found the company that actually makes these devices. Here's a link to their web site and you can order them directly from there, or, so as I just did, and call them directly.

Canada: 418-614-3742
United States: 517-545-8187

I just ordered 4 of these for my Montana over the phone. The Rep said they don't know why Amazon is showing them out of stock and they have had a huge increase for online sales from their web site and an increase in call in orders.

Anyway, I just ordered 4 of them. They are coming from Michigan (to Indiana) and charged $10 for shipping. Today is Wednesday and she said I should have them Friday.

So, there's the good solution! And oh.... by the way ... she did say they do work as good as they say on the YouTube videos.

There ya go folks!

I used these simple modules to add complete voice using Alexa and remote control via my phone to control my entire rig. Really easy to wire and hookup.

We had a boob light in a High Country and the switch was on the back side too. My wife is short as well. I rotated the light.

i have used remote switches like the one listed below. I have hidden the control box in the wall behind the switch and also just in the light fixture.
