Axle weight rating

Is it normal to have your axle weight rating be less then your GVWR? In my case my...
GAWR= 5,200lbs
My GVWR= 12,125

I'm sure my hitch weight take some off the trailer but ot sure it's that much.

Yes, it is normal. The axles don’t carry the entire load. My unit has max weight of 16,600 and it truly weighs 16,240. I have two 7,000 lb axles. When I put it on the scale, my axles are carrying 12, 940

It is typical for the pin on your truck to take approximaely 20-25% of the trailer load. So the axles are only holding 75-80% of the actual gross weight of the trailer.

If you really want to know what axles are on your rig you need to crawl under the rig and find the tag. As discussed recently on another thread your axles may be 6K but the GAWR lower based on the tires installed at the factory.

Yes, it's normal, and in your case the rig came with load range E tires, confirming the 5,200 axle rating.
