Replace front cap LEDs

Has anyone had to replace the LEDs on their front/nose cap? I’ve got one that is no longer sticking to the fiberglass. I am thinking of replacing all 3 but am not sure how to access the wiring.

The wiring is tucked back in a small hole on one end of each light. Just look for the end that has a dab of sealant and you'll know which end the wiring is on.

I replaced the top light on ours last year. The wiring was on the drivers side and very short. I barely had enough excess wire to pull out of the hole and splice in new light. I used a double sided 3M tape for automobile trim to install new light.

I'm having the same problem and I tried re-gluing the strip with silicone. On mine, it appears the strip is separating such that the outside cover of the strip is missing from several inches of the strip. Lights are still working but the strip is missing some of its cover. Not sure how to describe, but the normal strip has a "D" shape where the flat part goes against the wall. In a few places, the rounded part of the "D" facing is gone and it is now more of a flat piece and I can feel the LED and diodes underneath. I think maybe in the summer I'll replace mine to, so following.
Incidentally, if anyone can advise about the facebook link? I was on that forum but apparently made the mistake of mentioning this forum and was blocked. Now I can't see anything any more.

That’s what is happening to mine. The cover is peeling off the long strip at the top and it no longer works.

This is weird. I am a member of the Montana Owners Group on FB and trying to access this link gets me a message "This group is a place for owners or prospective owners of Montana or Montana High Country fifth wheels........." and nothing else. Yet I can go into the Group's FB pages.

This is part of why I dislike FB.

I am logged into the Montana RV Owners Group (4.1k members) where Jim Vititow is a member. However he has few posts there.

I see there is another group - the Keystone Montana RV Owners Group (8.6l members.

I have read about Model specific Montana FB groups but I didn't find any in a quick search.

Why did someone feel they needed multiple FB groups? It sure makes information sharing a challenge. Plus you have to deal with the FB lack of tools and their propensity to sell your data.

I had a couple of my LEDs out on the upper cap light and am going to replace all three lights while I'm at it. Going to change from the amber color to white, which will compliment the awning lights. I ordered the replacement waterproof LEDs from superbrightleds.com.

Just make sure when you are replacing the lights and you cut or disconnect the wires coming out of the cap that you wrap those wires around a pencil or something to keep them from going back down into the hole. I've heard of folks loosing the wire back down the hole and it is near impossible to retrieve it or to fish a new wire back up to the hole. Just a word of caution for those replacing the lights!

Thank you Rondo for the heads up. That would be a nightmare if those wires went down the rabbit hole.

Also a heads up on what to put the LED strip in place-- I've been told to use a clear silicone sealant. You put a bead of it down the valley where the strip sits and then place the strip down and lightly depress the strip into the silicone and on the end of the strip where it is connected to the inner wires you push excess wires into the hole and seal it with the silicone making it waterproof.

Carl, I agree about Facebook. I don't really use it much, and only joined that group because of a post here. Apparently, when answering a question I mentioned how helpful everyone on this forum has been for me and was banned. The moderator must have sent me a Facebook messenger message but I refuse to install their messenger app. My phone has the Facebook app and there is no way to remove it. Zuckerburg has Samsung paid of to prevent it, I guess.

DW and I decided years ago (early 2000s) not to join FB, or any of those social sites. Youngest son was still living with us and he did all that stuff. It just looked like too much work. I even quietly never got around to signing up for linkin at work. I told them that anybody that needs to contact me can send me a email or call me...have never regretted not joining any of those things.

Bartman, is this the lights you are going to use?
https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...terproof/5602/
It says Highlight Series Tape Light IP67 Waterproof?
It looks like what I have in the picture. Also, do you know what connectors I'll need? If it is 5 meters long, then 2 strips should do all three if my guess/measurement is correct.

If you are talking about the clearance lights at the top of your cap than they must be amber to remain legal.

Robert, those are the exact ones I ordered. It comes on a reel that is 16 feet long. I went with the 4000K, which is a pure white. They do have waterproof end caps you can buy or just seal it with silicone. As for extra wiring, they also sell the small gauge wiring. If you can do a simple solder, it looks pretty straight forward on the install. Just clean the surface well prior to laying down the new strip. Merry Christmas

Replaced my lights. The quality of the replacement superbrightleds is very apparent from the photos of the factory stuff. It took a little bit of rubbing to get the prior silicone off from where the wires feed into the cap. The ones I put in were 4000K. They are softer than the awning LED strip, which I believe is a 5000K or higher. Knowing how easy this was to replace, I might order a 5000K strip. Fairly inexpensive, and no additional power source is needed. I did buy three square end caps and silicone'd those in place from where you cut the harness. The new strip is very bright and I might be looking at a dimmer.

Those look great! I think when I get my rig out of the shop, I'll replace mine too. Have to have the rear axle aligned and some minor warranty work done.

Hopefully that warranty work gets done in a timely manner
