Greetings from Florida

After owning 4 motorhomes we purchased a 2021 Montana 3931 FB legacy this weekend from lazy days , my wife loves the floorplan and is excited to travel some locally, I'm having a tuff time with selecting a hitch 2019 f250 short bed , any suggestions would be great . We are to pick it up on the 13th

We have the same unit I think you will be happy with f350 this is our 7th Montana and we bought 2 for our children.

Welcome and congrats on the new rig. Check everything. Recommend you move the rig across the street to their campground for a night or two. Lazy Days is a busy place and often has long wait times for follow on service.

Welcome to the forum! We've been full time now for over 11 years and over 150,000 miles with three different Montana's all with a Pullrite and we've been in some tricky places, used to work for Fish and Wildlife in the winter, and never had an issue using that hitch.

Thanks for the all the ideas , We are taking delivery on the 13th when the Tampa show is starting and they are full at the campground ( I already asked ) so we are staying overnight in there delivery lot or 2 depending on any problems that may arise, If there's delay in service I,ll Leave it and come back to pick up later
I live 2hrs away so not a problem.

May I suggest that you also check out the B&W RVK3370 Companion OEM Slider 5th Wheel for Ford Puck System - 20,000 GTW. Just a thought ... BTW, are you close to maximizing out the towing capacity of your truck with this RV when it is totally loaded?

I have the Pullrite auto slide and agree it is a very nice hitch. Very heavy though. The only other hitch that I would recommend would be the B&W slider. It is a manual slide, and is probably a little more user friendly and lighter than the Pullrite. The question is what do you want, auto slide or manual, lighter, or the Cadillac. Both are very nice hitches.

Congrats on your new "camper". No suggestions on a hitch though. Advise above sounds good though.

A suggestion about your new Montana though. When you do the walk through, take a moment and crawl under the camper and make sure all the screws holding the Colorplast are there and none have fallen out, or the underbelly cover has not broken out and dangling in mid-air!

I've seen several Montana's on display in many different RV dealerships and way too many of them had screws coming out, and these were the display models on the show room floor!

Just examine everything.

Meanwhile, let's hope everything is absolutely great! Congrats again and Happy Camping!

Pullrite auto slide with your short box. I have seen and heard of too many truck windows, cabs and trailer nose collisions with a forgotten manual slide handle. I had one for years before going to a long box truck(which I love!).

Thanks for the advise I want the auto slide to lazy and forgetful to hassle with it. I also will look at the bottom of unit good advise , Wasn't familiar with this problem . I'm an info type of person so I have been googling a lot lately, Just trying to educate myself on fifth wheels . spent the last 10 years in motor homes . Anyone have info on tankless hot water pros and cons . I,m going to miss my oasis . Thanks for all your help

You need to check your payload and pin weight on your new 5er. Remember, that pin weight is quoted based on EMPTY weight. I also bought my 5er from Lazy Days. I made the mistake of buying my truck before I bought my 5er. I was overweight and Lazy Days would not release the RV until I had my truck modified to carry my rig. They are DOT certified modifications and I now have extra payload . So make sure you have plenty of extra payload on top of your UNLOADED pin weight. I also spent a few nights in their lot. Its a good idea and I would go through ALL your systems while you are there. Inspect everything from front to rear, the screws, trim, slide outs, etc. I found several items needing fixes, which they did before I signed the paperwork. Congrats on your new 5er.

One small problem is I already have a 2019 F250 4wd that I bought 8 mths ago before I had the great idea to by a fifth wheel lol. I'm having air bags put in it this Thursday ,and Bought a hitch already . the tag says 3020 pin weight. The worst part is I sold my 2019 Chevy 3500drw with 30000 miles on it ,with a gooseneck set up and firestone air bags, Last year cause we have a 3 horse slant load trailer for shows and I use my ford for that so the dually just sat in my whse . I'm real bad at blowing my kids inheritance. We are in Florida so not going very far with it for now. I will probably get a new Dually this year I was already looking across the street at Brandon fords inventory Scary the prices now geez $90.000. We are going over next Wednesday for the Pdi ,and I have been all over these forums as to what to look out for. I just sold my 2018 Newmar Essex a couple of months ago and that was our 4th one so I'm familiar to some of the operating systems , but just trying to learn about these units . I'm having them put in stack washer/dryer ,Traveler Sat, and 3rd a/c . I appreciate all the advise everyone is giving it really helps incase I miss stuff .

What mods did you have to make ? The sticker on door says rear payload 6340 lbs front 5200 lbs
