Expanding existing drawers

I posted this in another section, then I thought here might be better

I pulled out a drawer to discover that there is room for the drawer to be deeper front to back by almost 2 inches. Doing so would add 20% more volume to the existing drawer.
Has anyone done this?
I see two options.
A) expand the existing drawer at the back with lap joints to the existing drawers
B) Build new drawers, using the existing front.

I had new drawers built using the existing fronts. The additional space is wonderful.

I did just that on our last 5er, a Titanium and gained at least 4 inches in depth in the bedroom, 2-3 for the rest It was quite a long term project

It's not a super simple job nor particularly inexpensive but a mid level DIYer with a table saw and some wood can do it. I used 3/8" poplar from the local big lumberyard (they don't carry that thickness now). For the deep BR drawers, I needed to glue pieces together using my router table and a bit and some joinery biscuits to get the height. I also used some mid level capacity drawer slides, replacing the usual puny RV junk.

Which drawers are you referring to? Would you be able to share pics of your work? Many thanks !

Being a carpenter I've done that to every unit I have owned. In my current 2011 Montana I did a lot of drawer modifications making them deeper and taller. If you make them deeper you will need longer full extension slides

On "To Do" project list is to make a top drawer for the bathroom cabinet (came without it).
If you want deeper drawers you could order them from here....

Cheaper? Not from my experiences with cabinet doors for home and RVs

Better? Maybe but why spend hundreds of dollars if you have or have access a few pretty basic tools. A table saw is best but a hand held $25 buck Harbor Freight circular saw and a good straight edge (wood, metal, plastic, etc)
