Do you have S637 tires? I was curious if the are replacing these also since the NHTSA recall didn't specifically say S637's.

Yes, they're S637's and ARE covered by the recall.

Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation. Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Sailun will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December 2021. Owners may contact Sailun customer service at 1-844-281-9696."

Thanks for posting this. Looks like the recall is for 21 weeks' of tire production during 2020 (weeks 20-41).

My tires' date code is 4220 which is one week after

According to the Sailun Tire NTHSA recall pdf:
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production:
The modification to the steel belt package design was applied October 11, 2020 - DOT week 4220

After seeing all the notes on the tire recalls had to go check. Seems I have three different DOT codes (2) 2216s, (1) 2416 and (1) 4919. So does this mean I need to replace 3 of my 4 tires? We have had this Montana from new, so it had to come with this mix match of tires, HOLY CRAP....

All 5 on my tires are date code "2220" - but "Made in China" - so I assume these are not included in the recall.

Wait a second. By DOT code did you mean Date Code portion of the full DOT Code? The Date Code is a 2 digit week and a 2 digit year. The Dates you posted appear to be 3 tires from 2016 and one from 2019 (which is after your RV was built). What about the spare?

Sailun recall

I just spoke with a representative from Sailun and they informed me that if your tires where made in China they are NOT part of the recall. Ck your tires and if the are marked MW followed by made in china they are NOT the recalled tires. The recall tires are marked 1YJ made in Vietnam! I was not impressed with Vietnam in 1968 and I'm still not impressed!! However, didn't think I would ever say, wow I'm so glad what I have was made in China either

Already replaced mine

I already replaced mine because of the tread separation with damage to my rig, and not wanting to risk any more blowouts with associated damage. I wonder what they might do for me in this case. If anyone knows, please post. Otherwise, I will find out and post when I know.

There were always a handful of reported failures, but nothing like what's been reported recently.

And reports of tread loss, and blow outs on the Goodyears , yet they still keep buying them . It seems pick your poison . Hopefully the Hankook H31's will be a good one .

Glad I purchased mine from a local Independent dealer. Called this morning and told them about the recall. Within a half hour I received a return call telling me my replacement tires would be there next week at zero cost to me. They would call the day they receive them and set up an appointment to
change them out.

Just another reason to support your local small business owners when possible. Not only did I save money from buying local, I received first class customer service.

Buy local when you can fellas!

So, here's the latest on MY quest for replacements for my recalled Sailuns. Apparently, NHTSA jumped the gun and sent out the recall notice before Sailun and TBS (their U.S. distributor) had a chance to notify users and dealers. So, everyone is trying to play catch-up. I spent many days waiting for a call-back from TBS Quality Assurance and finally called Sailun in Canada. They explained the problem and said that dealer notices would be going out this week. TBS finally called back and said the same thing. I went to my local Les Schwab and they ordered replacement tires and said they would hold them for me until they got notification from TBS or Sailun. Today, I talked to TBS and they said that the dealers had been notified. I then called the corporate office of Les Schwab and they said that they had just received the recall authorization and they, in turn, called my local Les Schwab who said bring the tires in for a free replacement. I spent WAY too much time on the phone but that was probably because I was a little early in the process. Kudos to Les Schwab who went above and beyond to facilitate this. I should have all tires replaced in time to head South after Xmas!

Latest update...as of this morning, called Sailun and was immediately given the number to call TBC (not TBS) and got a recording that they will call me back with the information on where to get the tires I have (date code 3120) replaced at a local dealer INCLUDING mounting and balancing.

Since I got mine online from SimpleTire, I will need to get the replacements at a local retailer that can install them too. I'm sure many others are in a similar situation.

It may take a while, but it sounds like Sailun is on it. THIS time I will request that they mount the tires with the white barcode sticker on the INSIDE!!

EDIT: I just saw that Walmart has a set of Transeagle tires I hadn't heard about yet:
Set of 4 (FOUR) Transeagle All Steel ST Radial ST 235/85R16 Load H 16 Ply Trailer Tires
$724.93
Anyone have experience with these tires? Thanks

Recall update

Got a call from a very nice lady at TBC yesterday and gave her my info regarding the tires etc.

She really preferred to handle the replacement at either a Les Schwab or at a Big O tire store for business and reasons of convenience for them.

No Les Schwabs near me, and the Big O tire stores nearby can't handle a 37 ft. 5th wheel (plus truck of course) at their location.

SO, I will be requesting other arrangements (preferably the local America's Tire where I had the Sailuns installed) and hope that we can figure out how to make that work out.

Be patient if you haven't heard back from TBC, she said they are just slammed with emails, phone calls etc. regarding this situation...
