End Cap optional?
I was out looking at new Montanas this past weekend and discovered that the rear end cap is now part of an upgrade pkg. This basically makes it the same as the Cougar. I thought "Montana" was the upgrade.

Montana has forgot who they are. If Montana don't know who they are their customers will never figure it out and they will pay a heavy price for that. Do you remember when Cadillac forgot who they were? They rebranded Chevrolets and called them Cadillacs. They cheapened their name and they are still paying for that. Montana is traveling down the same road.

To me, the molded caps helped identify the Montana brand. Since they have went with the flat end cap unless it was ordered optional, they look just like all the other cookie cutter RVs out there.
Just another way for the company to help milk extra dollars from the buyers.

Flat back montana, aka mountaineer, not so good chinese tires, assembly glitches, less than stellar holding tanks, et al are recoverable deviations on a well known brand. Why does the corporate world think numbers are the savior of business instead of well built product... john

Molded cap is part of the legacy package upgrade. Marketing tool for reaching into your wallet a little deeper

Cougar and Montana lines not comparable. For years, there was the mountaineer, upgrades turned it into a Montana, upgrades to the Montana turned it into a big sky. Keystone has changed the line, bringing in the high country, mountaineer, Montana and Montana legacy. Now the mountaineer has disappeared from their webpage although you still see them on dealer lots. Confusing.

Note...not even with the Legacy upgrade does every model get the end cap upgrade. Our 3791RD, for example,.....Legacy upgrade but no end cap.
Check the specs...there are exceptions.

Comparing a NON Legacy Montana to a Cougar is pretty off, It is really not that confusing really the NON legacy Monty is just the old Moutaineer and still a nice step up from a Cougar like it always has been and the Legacy PKG in now the top op the line Monty like the 2015 1/2 and older with the rear cap(on most models) Mor-ryde 4100 susp,MCD shades cherry wood stiles (frame around the cabinets) and In Command Control and that's all,The Mid Level Montana HIGH COUNTRY is closer to a Cougar

I got the Legacy edition on my new 3820FK, and ordered every other option they had, including the full body paint, and my total price not including state sales tax and registration was $89,500 I don't see how they can build this moving house for so little? I almost wish it was 20k more, and all of the problems you guys mention could be fixed, like better tanks and A/C, and better axles etc. The RAM 3500 Dually truck I have hauling it, almost cost as much? Something is out of whack here. Then you go to RV parks, and see guys drive up in 1,000,000 motorhomes, and you wonder why they are so much more money? I mean my Cummins turbo diesel dually truck, and 3820FK combined is still only about 16% of a million dollar motorhome?

I guess it's all in prospective ... my 2011 3150RL ( built when Montanas were Montanas) was around $48,000 ... nearly half of your rig. Granted it doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but I can just hum without some of those whistles.

Maybe so, still prefer our molded rear cap.

I took my taillights off to put LED's in and the back cap is Stuffed with insulation so I cannot see how a "Flatbacker" is better insulated in the rear wall there KOLCB, Plus the rear cap gives the 5er a nice finished classy look IMO,quote]Originally posted by K0LCB

What the are you talking about?? both my 2012 and my 2015 rear caps were/are as smooth as glass AND the extra money for the Legacy PKG is more than a rear cap ,So move on Angry Resident Montana Basher or better yet just sell your Montana and Buy a Forest River or Grand Designs Because they are SOOO much better LOL!!

I have a 2015 Legacy Edition with the rear cap, you really don't know what you are talking about.

Our 2013 3750FL only had 1 1/2 inch of spun fiberglass 1/8" wall panel and molded outside. I think 1 1/2" foam is better, JMHO.
