Main cabin air conditioner struggles

We're camping.... It's 80* outside. I have the main cabin ac set to 77 and it can't even reach that! The bedroom ac works perfectly. Been experiencing issues with the main cabin ac last year and this! Any thoughts?

There have been a ton of threads on the subject.
Our solution was to run both ACs on high at full speed 24-7. The ceiling fan is also on even though it does not stir up much. It sure feels good and cold at night! We have a Dyson fan sitting over by the TV that rotates to blow on the dogs on the couch and then hit us in our recliners. We have some small fans on the dresser in the bedtoom blowing at us at night. We like the noise…at least the dogs cant hear what is happening outside.

We also used a portable unit a couple a weeks ago on a short holiday trip. It lowered the temps in the living room by 3 ot 4 degrees. Forum member Daryles shared some info on those portables in a recent thread about how inefficient those things are…all good info. I suppose if i was paying the electricity at my site i would be more concerned - all i know is our living room was cooler from uding the portablem.

Have to run both, & if you aren't in any shade good luck you can just feel the heat overhead on the slideout.

If you are physically able, you might get on the roof, remove the shroud on that unit and check the evaporator and condenser coils for dirt and debris. This will cause poor cooling performance and is fairly easy to fix.

We always ran both at full bore in extreme heat. Our bedroom AC was a dump system, not tied into the duct work. You could hang meat up there even on the hottest days. Placed a fan on the dresser in the bedroom to push the cold bedroom air into the main living area.

Use an infrared thermometer and check the difference between return air temperature and the supply registers. If you are getting 15-20 degrees difference, then AC is working. Your focus then will be using the thermometer to find where heat is coming in. Or figure out why that cool air isn’t coming into the main cabin.

Here's a link to testing procedure for Colemans that I posted a couple of weeks ago. It states an 18-22 degree split is expected. A laser thermometer is not the best choice for air temp measurements, use a digital BBQ thermometer. I haven't found a any documentation like this for Dometics, I doubt there would be very much difference.
