Removing protective cover on Thomas Payne Recliners

I am sick of the protective cover on the foot rest on our Thomas Payne recliners.

It seems like it is stiched into the leather.

Has anyone removed them without damage?

Thanks in advance

I think we used a spoon handle and a razer blade.
Press the spoon handle into the leather to make a gap between the plastic and the leather. then carefully slice the plastic.

They have it there for a reason. The heals of your feet wear through the pleather. Personally I'd leave it on.

If you intend to keep your RV for any length of time, start a replacement fund for that Thomas Payne garbage. It WILL start to flake apart that fake leather. No way to fix it unless you cover it with a fabric slip cover. Just a matter of time. Usually within 3 years, or less. You will want to replace it with real leather or fabric theatre seats. There are scores of threads about these really cheap theatre seats they use as oem furniture. Thomas Payne is owned by Lipert, which is why they use it. We had that happen to our theatre seats and gave them away. Replaced with real leather seats from Theatreseats.com. For a couple hundred dollars more than the replacement cost from Thomas Payne, we got real leather and ours are also electric with tons of options. Many others on this forum have done the same thing. Just wanted to warn you in advance. Don’t expect your theater seats to hold up for very long.

We replaced our couch with the Lux Lambright sofa sleeper. It's really nice
For the recliners we bought from Ashby Power Headrest Zero Gravity Recliner from Hydeline furniture. I was very worried about fit but measured alot of times it took over a month of resurch but really like the furniture.
