Maxaire mini roof vent

Does anyone have a similar experience. We have a 2019 Keystone Montana that came equiped with a Maxaire mini ceiling vent in the bathroom. We have owned several TT and FW's in the past and never experienced such a poor design vent before. The exterior roof cover is low profile and non moveable, problem number one. You can't close the exterior vent so every rain, water comes dripping in onto the toilet and floor. Not fun when your in there taking care of business. Inside the vent has a small tab that you move to open or close the vent slots inside, problem nimber two. The vent tab moves a piece of plastic around to attempt to close the vent, but in reality you can't really close the vent shut as with a traditional roof vent.. So when it rains you can't stop the drips from coming in, also when its windy or cold outside you can't do a thing about that either. The wind blows in freely and you can't keep the cold from coming in.
I can understand why Keystone installs them. They have alot of bells and whistles, light, motion light, fan and a cheap price tag but that does not make up for the poor design. This is the worst roof vent we have ever experienced and will soon be replaced by a traditional roof vent that closes shut and will not let the wind and rain freely

Yes that's the one. Worse design ever. We had to put duct tape over the vent fins to prevent snow and wind coming in during the winter. No way to close them on the roof.

I've never seen anything like that until now. I find it hard to believe that Keystone would put that garbage in a Montana or any of their products for that matter. I'd be replacing it ASAP!

It's a real piece of garbage. I have a real roof vent ready to install, just waiting for good weather. I understand why Keystone installs them, their inexpensive only 110. retail so you can imagine how little they buy them for. And they look good on the inside with a lot of bells and whistles. Makes for a selling point if your not familiar with roof vents. I tried to put a cover on ours but the vent on the roof is just too small. Even tried to fabricate a long bracket but nothing but plastic to attach to.
It will be gone soon enough.

The only thing that I can think of is 2019 covid product availability? I'd contact Keystone and complain. You might be surprised.

Anything is worth a try however we originally complained about some poor quality workmanship on our new FW while under warranty and Keystone did not approve any repairs. I wouldn't expect much from them as they seem to be more interested in the money, regardless of quality.
