Battery is Hot
We just picked up our new to us 2019 3121RL 20th Anniversary edition, after being without our 3791 Rd for a couple years. So glad to be back in a Montana. While checking the batteries, I discovered that I had 2 Duracell group 27 AGM batteries. One battery is very hot to touch and the other is not. Anyone have any thoughts?, anything to be concerned about? Batteries are dated 2020. Cover is very tight hard to access.
Infrared shows side of battery at 170 degrees, other one is 118.

Possibly internal short. Take it out and have it tested.

Remove it and take it to and auto parts store for testing.
I have heard if replacing dual battery units, to do it in pairs so their age/capacity is the same.

The battery most likely shorted out as Daryles said. And yes replace in pairs. A bad battery will kill a good battery.

Be careful also. My truck batteries were weak and wouldn't start the truck. Jumped it and took to a dealer. When I got there they said it had to sit for a while because a battery was hot and might explode.

Thanks everyone!, I just went ahead and replaced both. Didn’t get a chance to have them tested though so guess we’ll chalk it up to a internal short.
