Hot Water Tank replacement

I have a question. We purchased our Montana 3665 used. Great RV. The only thing is that the people we purchased it from switched out the RV hot water tank for a small electric Home use one. We want to put an LP/electric RV hot water tank back in. How difficult would that be? I was considering the tankless, they removed the unit but left the wiring. We would like to Basically install a complete new system not just replacing it. Can we do it ourselves or would it be better to get done professionally which I know will cost.

There is a Suburban water heater manual in the files section. It has instructions for the install to give you an idea what is involved. It doesn't look hard.

The bigest problem is that in most styles of Montana's there is very little space to work with. Probably easier if your small with long arms

Hard part is done, original already pulled. If the wiring, water and propane lines still in the originally installed locations, not hard. As stated, very tight workspace is the biggest headache

Thank you . We could not see the propane line but will look again. The nice part about this, there is a cupboard above the location so we opened yesterday as it is screwed shut. We have good access from above the area. You are right small area of working. From outside.

I was considering Hot water on demand but probably best to stick with the original type.

Try a search for tankless water heaters and read about the install. I removed the bulkhead wall in the basement to access mine. It was not very difficult.

Had to replace ours while on the road a few years back. Not difficult, but hard to get into spaces, etc. Ours failed as the lame composite wood scraps the factory put under the tank deteriorated and the tank cracked while driving around Chicago. MAKE SURE you support the tank well with solid wood pieces, not plywood or composite.
