Question Netgear EX6129 WiFi Extender????

I have installed a Netgear WiFI Extender EX6120 to extend the campground wifi and improve the signal. It connects to the campground network just fine but, I can not get an internet connection. I have reset the Netgear unit and installed many different configurations. It always connects fine, just no internet connection.

Any words of wisdom?

Some campground WiFi's require an online acceptance of their terms and conditions before gaining internet access. This is very common in hotels but I've also seen in in RV parks. You might check with the host to ask. Typically that kind of connectivity acceptance is browser based when you first connect to their signal.

IF you use your computer to login to the campground wifi, does it take you to a page asking you to agree or enter credentials? If so that is called a captive portal and many devices do not support this, I could not find the EX6129, but it looks like EX6120 doesn't support this capability.

It should be fairly simple to find out what their wifi requires. At first just connect your computer directly to their wifi, NOT through your booster. You should be able to see an initial web page to agree to their T&C's if that is their protocol. If you are able to connect directly to the internet without having to accept anything then you know the issue is in your router set up.

There is no credentials page to login. It's a one-time password. Once connected you don't need to do the password again after rejoining the campground wifi.

After a 1 hour 3 minute call with Netgear tech support I was told that the EX6120 will not work with this wifi because of the credentials (filters) that the campground has set.

I need to order a mesh type extender. That would be a Netgear EX6100 V.2.

I thought I had done my homework but, I guess not!

Correct the onetime password is part of a captive portal that is why it wont work. Just looked at the manual for the EX6100. I didn't see any configuration for the one-time password. I thinks you will have the same issue. If you buy it from Best Buy you can return in within 30days. probably would cost a little more, but at least you could test.

Unless that device acts like a pure layer 2 bridge, you will have to enter the password

I use this one. The setup/connectivity is web-based. Has worked every place I've used it...so far.

About a year ago we bought a Netgear WIFI extender, don't recall the model number. Anyway, never could get it to work and took it back....Best Buy.

I made a mistake and said that I did not have to answer credentials to log in to campground wifi. I do, but it was 15 days ago (I'm old) and it's only a one time thing. So I believe the problem is "captive portal" and Netgear EX6120 and EX6100V2 does not support "captive portal", nor did the tech on the 2nd support call even know what captive portal was and I could barely understand him! Go figure.

So seeing as jsb5717 has had experience with this one, I will order it up and try it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

Thanx jsb5717! The device you recommended worked like a champ. We successfully installed the devise just by reading and following labeled instructions. No tech support needed. As someone else said, the Netgear device just doesn't work!

Should work just fine. It looks for ANY available wifi signal.

In my trailer I use the Wingard 360+ 4G antenna and connect it to a Netgear 4G router. It broadcasts a signal that any device can connect to. I use the King booster to connect to my Netgear signal. That way my devices are always connected to the King whether it is pulling from a wifi signal or the 4G signal. Once I set up the King to pull from the best source, depending on our location, I have connectivity.

You need a wifi "repeater", not an "extender." The one I use is the GL.iNet GL-MT1300 you can check it out on Amazon. Good luck.
